First-class guy. Seemingly genuine, sincere, and unassuming.

I’ve come across him before, and some of my family know him. Apparently a very good man — and that comes across in his talks.

This is vague, but from one of the press releases. "He has lived and worked in the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and the United States in various industries, including health care, food, transport, and automotive, and ran his own communications consultancy."

I find it interesting that they ordained him before he was sustained by common consent by the members of the church.

The leaders don't care about our opinions. They make a decision and then we must "sustain" it.CuriousThinker wrote: ↑December 8th, 2023, 10:53 am I find it interesting that they ordained him before he was sustained by common consent by the members of the church.

Re: Elder Patrick Kearon called to the Quorum of the 12.
As we all know, Common Consent is long, long gone.
They are not going to call anyone who hasn’t amply demonstrated that they are thoroughly church-broke.
The reason I asked about his occupational background is because actions speak louder than words. GG comes across as a nice, mild-mannered guy too. But it sounds like they are probably both galloping globalists who may be very useful tools in the socialistic global agenda.

Apart from calling it correctly (been predicting his ascension to the Twelve for years), my first thought was that this was out of order.CuriousThinker wrote: ↑December 8th, 2023, 10:53 am I find it interesting that they ordained him before he was sustained by common consent by the members of the church.

Re: Elder Patrick Kearon called to the Quorum of the 12.
My son was recently ordained to the office of Elder. He had to be sustained by the members of the ward before that could happen. There is no way they would have gone out of order.Robin Hood wrote: ↑December 8th, 2023, 11:27 amApart from calling it correctly (been predicting his ascension to the Twelve for years), my first thought was that this was out of order.CuriousThinker wrote: ↑December 8th, 2023, 10:53 am I find it interesting that they ordained him before he was sustained by common consent by the members of the church.

Maybe this is how they prophesy. They looked around a corner and saw that the church would raise the right hand, and having seen it they thought it no crime to ordain him.Robin Hood wrote: ↑December 8th, 2023, 11:27 amApart from calling it correctly (been predicting his ascension to the Twelve for years), my first thought was that this was out of order.CuriousThinker wrote: ↑December 8th, 2023, 10:53 am I find it interesting that they ordained him before he was sustained by common consent by the members of the church.

I stand to be corrected, but I can't remember this happening before. The new apostle is revealed at General Conference.

Re: Elder Patrick Kearon called to the Quorum of the 12.
I don't. The common consent of the members is nothing more than lip service. The members are to do what they are told. "Follow the prophet."CuriousThinker wrote: ↑December 8th, 2023, 10:53 am I find it interesting that they ordained him before he was sustained by common consent by the members of the church.

Re: Elder Patrick Kearon called to the Quorum of the 12.
There are a lot of after-the-fact "for ratification purposes only" sustainings of MP holders in stake conferences. This happens all the time. In principle, this is no different, although apostle is a "bigger" and more high-profile calling.CuriousThinker wrote: ↑December 8th, 2023, 11:32 am

Family wealth.
I don't actually know for sure, but that's the impression I got from the things he mentions in his talks.
I know there are members who just wouldn't listen to a common guy, they like feeling like leaders are superior...and follow an unmentionable caste system.

Honestly though y’all wouldn’t sustain anyone they choose so why do you care?Telavian wrote: ↑December 8th, 2023, 11:02 amThe leaders don't care about our opinions. The arrogance though to assume the Lord and the President of the Church needs your opinion about the calling of an apostle…that’s next level.

Re: Elder Patrick Kearon called to the Quorum of the 12.
My understanding is that this is a quorum calling so it doesn't need a general membership vote for the calling. The same thing happens in your ward quorums- Elder, Priest (other than Bishop), Teacher and Deacon. We sustain during ward conferences, but the calling to a quorum doesn't require a vote from the general membership, just the quorum. An apostle is a quorum calling. The church isn't a democracy.CuriousThinker wrote: ↑December 8th, 2023, 11:32 amMy son was recently ordained to the office of Elder. Kearon is a sneeky Globalist through and through. I have some information on him from his past history and I'll look it up but you can count on him as a true Globalist.

His talks are good. Visual, thought provoking, and memorable.
Since this will be my only interaction with him, I think it is a good pickup for the team. It was also nice they didn't have to give up any draft picks to get him.
