Abuse Exposé from English Paper
Why do we see so many of these stories? I'm aware of the Daily Mail's reputation, but they name names and have actually spoken to these people. Why won't more "reputable" papers cover these things? I'm so tired of this crap.

Re: Abuse Exposé from English Paper
I'd sadden your more concerned that news agencies are covering it than what the LDS / Brighamite church is doing.
I wrote this post to help with this issue by quoting restoration scriptures on the subject. https://seekingyhwh.org/2018/09/09/bish ... of-israel/

Because the upper classes see the subject as sordid and there is the risk of being sued or misled.
The UK has a proliferation of newspapers or did until the internet took over. Even the tabloid press has two subdivisions:
* Red tops – Often but not always crime and sex obsessed. The Sun, Daily Mirror, Daily Star, Daily Record etc (The Mirror and the Record are the best of these and fall between the two categories.)
* Yahbloids - The middle class version. Middle brow. Said to be read by the bosses' wives. the Daily Express, Daily Mail

My mother would read the Daily Express and much more rarely the Mail. (The Express used to be a major paper in her day). She would never be seen dead reading the Sun. When I worked on building sites, you would see the red tops everywhere with their pictures of topless women, and stories of actors, sportsmen and pop singers at it with each other. The Yahbloids were into stuff like horoscopes, alternative medicine and Erich von Däniken before Ancient Aliens first appeared... they frequently carry stories about how Yellowstone supervolcano is about to blow or how Niburu is coming in two weeks' time. The Yahbloids are the main pushers ir anti-immigrant and anti-EU coverage.Seed Starter wrote: ↑November 20th, 2023, 2:52 pmI learned something today. Both sorts of tabloid cover so called "womb tremblers" to scare the public. In the case of sex offences, the red tops concentrate on low level rapists and paedophiles and how they've been spotted somewhere or other; the yahbloids would go more for the human interest angle than the lynchmob. Interviews with victims more than vengeance.
This is a famous red top report on the Falklands War back in '82. You can see the quality of reporting. This is when the Argentine battlecruiser, the Belgrano, was sunk by the Royal Navy. A controversial event that changed the course of the war. The major American equivalents to the red tops would be New York Post (possibly) and National Enquirer, I suppose.

Womb tremblers? Now there's a term I've never heard. And what in the world is with this leading line:Niemand wrote: ↑November 20th, 2023, 3:27 pmMy mother would read the Express and much more rarely the Mail. "The navy had the angies on their knees last night after devastating double punch."
That sounds quite suggestive but perhaps that writing style is what readers wanted. I think I might have been in trouble writing that sort of line in a school history paper. So funny, they run a serious story with a bingo prize in the footer. This side of the pond is no better and no worse. It made me chuckle a bit.
