So I'm hearing two interpretations of this scripture.

From this podcast at time index 32:20 they say that Jesus essentially became sin, it became a contradiction to his soul.

But here at time index 11: 40 John MacArthur said that Jesus endured the hostility of sinners.
I looked at the foot note of contradiction it said rebellion, opposition. I get the sense that Pastor MacArthur's interpretation is the correct one.
Contradiction, Hostility in a sense are both defined by what is seen in the footnote. Your thoughts?
Hebrews 12:3 Contradiction or Hostility of sinners?

Re: Hebrews 12:3 Contradiction or Hostility of sinners?
I didn't listen to all of the podcasts, so I have no idea if they are taking things out of context, but at those time stamps they are quoting different scriptures. Though I would also suggest that the Macarthur one is probably preaching more pure doctrine than those other dudes on the podcast- just off the feel (though that is dangerous and I would have to listen to the whole thing to make a correct judgment).RosyPosy wrote: ↑November 12th, 2023, 3:53 pm So I'm hearing two interpretations of this scripture.

In the Macarthur one, he is quoting Hebrews 12: 3 Consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart
In the first podcast they say they are quoting Galatians (though they misquoted it, it is actually 2 Cor they should have been quoting 2 Cor 5:21 which is actually what they are saying. 2 Cor states: 1God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
In Galatians it states states 3: 13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. For it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”
Edit: listened a bit longer- yeah, I think Macarthur is keeping that scripture in context a lot better.
