Recommendations for videos or blogs

Post by honestseeker12 »

I really like getting new insight pertaining to the gospel and scriptures, and sometimes I am not smart enough to think of something on my own. I think I am often too carnally minded and don't understand all the deeper messages in the scriptures. Thanks to some of you here who have posted links, I have learned a lot from youtube videos from "Awake and Arise". She is a really good teacher and explains some core gospel doctrines quite well. I appreciate how she likens the scriptures unto ourselves. I think she helps me understand some of the chapters from Isaiah even better than Gileadi does. I have also read some blog entries from One Climbs at https://oneclimbs.com, and he enlarges my understanding of things, too. In addition, I have read some of Marc's writings from his blog "https://latterdaylamanite.com." He had a very good paper about the Lectures on Faith. Are there any other videos or blogs that people could recommend to me to help me grow in my understanding of scriptures that approach their topics with an LDS background without a follow the prophet and you'll never go astray mentality?

I have nothing to add, but the two you mentioned, Awake and Arise and Marc are both very good. I was going to mention Awake and Arise, if you have not seen her video on how she approaches scripture study, it was very good. I'll see if I can find it.

I recommend Rob Fotheringham. He does deep research and his videos show his research in a Power Point type of presentation. It is hard to argue his logic when he shows screenshots of actual documents.

Joseph Told The Truth has been impressing me. This video in particular was brave and powerful, IMO.

I’m honestly embarrassed and don’t exactly trust my ability to discern truth from lies. lol I can’t believe how awful this post aged.

If people say that enough, the real estate prices will rise. Maybe that is what they are hoping for. People migrate constantly for different reasons. Illegals come for welfare and food stamps, free medical, and a huge drug market. Lazy people move to cities where they can smell the people on public transit, close proximity of everything, and a cop on every corner. People move to the country for clean air, low crime, relatively freer lifestyle, safety, and the ability to be more self reliant.

Moving in a panic is likely not a very good idea. Anyone that can't smell the roses as to where things are going by now, isn't very observant.
People looking for someone besides Jesus to follow will probably find what they are looking for. It all comes down to how gullible people are. A serious seeker would seek scriptures and ask God in prayer.

I found it amazing that many people that attend church every Sunday, have never in their entire life made an honest attempt to find truth. No need to, they say, as the Bishop will tell us if anything important comes up. They have never read a book of scripture from start to finish. If the Bishop tells them to take an experimental jab that has no known benefit, they get right on it.

Most of the people here don't have these issues, but every once in a while someone comes by with a story and people buy it.

I do believe that the average LDSFFer has a better grip on reality than the average TBM.
