I am curious, though. Have any of you that served missions have recurring dreams that you are on a mission again? I have these dreams from time to time where I am on a mission again, and I know in the dream that it is a second mission. I am not talking about senior missions. Just the feeling that I am supposed to serve a mission again. I still have those dreams sometimes. I even got a blessing in the last year or so when I was sick where I was told that I still had a work to do for the Lord. I think it involves preaching the gospel after the One Mighty and Strong sets in order the church, but that is perhaps speculation. Anyone else have dreams about serving another mission?
Yep. I have the recurring dream where I'm going on a second mission for another two years. But for some reason, it feels like it's only shortly after returning from my first mission.
Yeah, same here. I haven't had it for a year or two, but it's awfully real when I have that dream. Pretty wild. I actually don't have many dreams that I remember.

Yes, I've had that dream many times, especially the first 10 or so years after my mission. It's been a few years since I recall having that dream.
Same here. Been a couple years since I've had it.
Same. I've spoken to many returned missionaries who have the same dream.

It's very similar to the dream where I'm back in college and I'm in danger of not graduating because I keep forgetting to go to class. It's been years since I had the mission dream but I still have the college one regularly.
I've had the college one where I forget to go to class, too, but more often I have a dream about being back in high school. The strange thing is I know that I have been in high school before, so I am just doing it to see how well I do the second time around, if that makes any sense.

My first companion, my trainer, was almost going to be sent home from his mission for breaking mission rules. He begged the President to let him train and he’d do better. (Note to anyone who is a mission president: I’d highly suggest you don’t let one of your worst missionaries train your greenies.)

I heard stories where they found an old guitar in the trash, fixed it up, and then sat out on a street corner way into the night and begged for money as homeless people.

For the first week or two things seems pretty on-point. We worked, did contacts, etc., and then… nothing. In fact, I remember it even started the first day of tracking. He walked us through the city and I had no clue where we were going. (We actually went way out of our area.) We ended up on a long rock road that went out into the ocean toward an abandoned prison. We actually passed two guys sitting on the rock wall on the side and one leaned over to the other and they started making out. (First gay kiss I ever saw in real life… or maybe even ever.) Well, we walked past these dudes and found our own quiet little spot and watch the sunset, then walked back home. No contacting, didn’t talk to a single soul.

I have lots of stories I’ll share later about this companion. :)

Yes, more than once, and male (females can (at least, they could before) serve multiple missions).
They've come less and less over time.

We would have deserved it, riding as we did. The lack of deaths and serious injuries among bike-riding missionaries is astounding.

That could have been another companion who was sent home for same sex attraction. I believe he’s now married with a family.

That is weird. I have had frequent dreams about going back to my mission.

The most troubling one wa years ago. Before my wife and I married, we had been dating, but decided to split up. That night i had a dream where my mission president called, told me I had to come back to the mission because I had messed things up with the girl I was supposed to be with. In my dream I argued with my mission president that I could make things right with the girl. Dream President told me he had talked to the girl, I had messed things up too badly and the only thing for me to do was come back.

I woke up scared and was miserable for weeks, until we got back together. Been happy ever since.

I find it quite fascinating that so many of you/us have dreams related to returning to their missions. I never thought this would have been a trend.

Yeah, me neither. Don't know if it's significant or not, but had no idea it was going on with this many of us.

Vivid, detailed and remembered dreams.

Part of me wishes the Lord would call me back, not to share Together Forever Videos, but to cry repentance, faith and gathering.

Yeah for me too..... Though I will admit, and I'm not much of a dreamer, that a few days ago I dreamt that the 49ers added Luke McCaffrey, Christian McCaffrey's lil brother who plays college ball at Rice U, to the team as we pursued that number 6 Lombardi trophy.... and the dream felt SO REAL🤣🤣🤣
But my return mission dreams also were very very real.
Dreams like that 49ers one are kinda why I take dreams with a grain of salt, lol.

Served my mission in Durban South Africa. I remember knocking doors with my Ugandan companion the first day in the field. We went to a less actives home, she opened the door, and my companion said "You are so fat". I just froze thinking, what in the world are you doing. Then to my pleasant surprise she said "thank you". Ah culture shock, what a fun experience. When being fat is a compliment because it's a sign of money and eating good.

I've also had plenty of dreams where I serve again. Sometimes just myself, sometimes with my wife. They are enjoyable.

Very cool. YES. I have had a recurring dream of being called back to my old mission to serve again ... even while married with children. One dream it was GBH calling me back to my old mission "just for 6 months". I was excited to do it.

One of my favorite foods to eat was a "Campero." They varied from city to city but were often a fresh, warm-crusted flatbread that was heated with butter. They added egg, chorizo, hamón, cheese, and a thin slice of bacon fat or lard that would melt down through the layers and would stain the kraft paper they wrapped around it. I almost salivate now thinking about it.

In fact, I loved the food there. Salads with fresh ingredients including olive oil and vinegar with salt and pepper to taste were incredible. I would take the bread that was soft on the inside and crusty on the outside and mop up the liquid toward the end. It was delicious.

One P-day we were having ice cream cones with a few other elders. My trainer gave a bite to another elder and he paused. He said, "Dude, there's alcohol in that. Trust me, I know what alcohol tastes like." My trainer didn't believe him so they went to the vendor ask asked for an ingredient list. Everything was standard until the elder asked, "And what about alcohol?" To which the vendor replied, "Oh, yes, alcohol as well." My trainer continued to finish his ice cream cone.

As I noted in a previous comment, I spent the last 6 months of my mission in Ceuta, a small province of Spain on the Northern tip of Africa. Crazy stuff happened in those months. Every P-day eve we would buy Camperos from this Hamburguesería. They were even better than the sandwiches on the mainland. The flavor and spices were melt-in-your-mouth amazing. We would often go up on the roof of our apartment and watch the city lights and boats crossing the Straights of Gibraltar.

Here's the Hamburguesería we would order from:

I recall a great experience from my mission. I was asked to serve on a panel discussion / youth fireside. The panel had myself, a stake president, a bishop, a relief society president, and one or two others. There were about 60 youth present. The youth would ask questions and the panel would answer, sometimes standing to answer. One question was asked "How can I share my testimony with people at school?"

I stood to answer and said "Sharing the gospel with others is easy if you remember that it is the Holy Ghost who does the convincing, not yourself. Simply speak truth and if their hearts are ready to accept those truths, the Holy Ghost will do his work. I've found that the most powerful truth to share is that Jesus Christ is really the Son of God and that you believe in him. So if you simply say 'I'm so grateful for Jesus Christ and all that he did for me' - the Spirit will come in and do the rest."

As I gave the example statement, the room grew very quiet and peaceful as the spirit filled the room. I've felt this many times, of course, as have all of you, but this time there was a difference. My eyes were opened somehow and I could see light filling the entire room starting at the ceiling and slowly working its way to the floor.

It was the first time I had "seen" something in the spiritual realm. Very cool experience for me!

I had a funny experience on my mission. I started out in Stuttgart where the older people speak a Swabish dialect. When I first got there I couldn't understand the older people because I had learned proper German. I soon pick it up within a couple of months before I was transferred.

When I was in Munich, I was on a bus and an older Swabish lady asked the man across the isle which stop was for the cemetery. The man said "What, I can't understand you!" I told him she wanted to know which stop was for the cemetery, in proper German. He turned to her and said which stop it was. She asked another question and he turned and look at me. I repeated her question and he answered her. This went on for a couple of minutes until the conversation was over.

I thought it was funny that an American was translating a discussion between a couple of Germans.

Good point. Speak truth and stay away from the church's historical truth claims.

One time this crazy black lady had us roll down the window in our car (we thought she was interested in the church), only to scream at me and my companion "WHAT A COUPLE OF PALE FACED FAGGOTS!" We laughed so hard! Every time we saw each other the rest of our missions we'd call each other a pale faced @#$%@! and laugh some more.

I remember in the MTC fairly often seeing elders giving their companions back rubs during firesides. One time it was in the row right in front of me and the one had his arm/hand UNDER his comp's suit coat while scratching/rubbing his comp's back. The visual still makes me ill.
