I agree about the BOM. I hold tight to that. Yesterday was the children's primary program at church where they did their presentation during sacrament meeting. My son wanted to participate in it, so we went to church even though we aren't there regularly. He had practiced all of the songs at home and his favorite scripture story, etc. He loves to see a friend his age whenever we do go to church, but he told me after church was over that he was sad that he would not be able to see his friend any more at church. (He doesn't see his friend outside of church, either, because we live a considerable distance away--not like Utah wards. We aren't even a ward; we're a branch.) He said that his friend's dad just found out something about the church and that they weren't going to go to church any more. This was especially shocking because the dad was a counselor in the branch presidency! I prayed that night that the family would still hang on to the Book of Mormon and stay close to Christ.JuneBug12000 wrote: ↑October 16th, 2023, 4:02 pmI'm grateful that people here see the truth about the church, but also keep the truth about the Book of Mormon. Most exmo sites don't/won't let you.BigFootCain wrote: ↑October 16th, 2023, 1:54 pm Thanks for introducing yourself, and for everyone else's responses. Interesting how so many of us have similar experiences.
I was a lurker on this site for a while before taking the plunge and joining in. It's nice to know we are not alone in recognizing the issues going on within the Church. Even though it sucks recognizing this "awful situation", we can at least know there are others out there seeing the same things and seeing all is not well in zion.
I lived in the deep south a few years ago. Lots to love about the Southeast USA. Wish I was still there.
I have been praying that more people's eyes would be opened because only God knows when and how to bring them to Him. You aren't allowed to discuss anything negative about the church with people at church, so when people do end up discovering things, you have no idea how they'll take it. We don't discuss Isaiah's prophecies and how they apply to us at church, and we don't think that the warnings to the Gentiles in the BOM apply to us, so when people find out shocking things, you hope that they don't throw the baby out with the dirty bath water, if they can even still see the baby in the filthy water. I think focusing on coming unto Christ personally and feasting upon the words in the Book of Mormon and actually living by them are vital to surviving these troubling times. People need to know it is okay to accept the Book of Mormon, even if they reject the path the Church is taking.
