Censorship: Those Who Love Power Ultimately Hate Truth
In this article titled: "The Movie Disney And China Don’t Want You To See", author Jonathan Miltmore makes the case that the roots of censorship unmask those who hate truth and love power.
"The reality is that those who wish to censor speech are usually far more interested in power than truth—the CCP’s attempt to censor "Kundun" reinforces that idea—and reminds us that sometimes the best way to exercise freedom is to watch a movie they don’t want you to see."

Re: Censorship: Those Who Love Power Ultimately Hate Truth
Generally true that “Those Who Love Power Ultimately Hate Truth.” But this applies to us all. All of us take some truths to be hard at some time. We’d rather feel - even if untrue - as if we are in power and know - even when we really don’t know a lot.
My guess is that people higher up in power have at their disposal all kinds of “experts” who will help them understand any given concept way more than the most exhaustive (somewhat censored) internet search. So, they may have a better grasp on some types of truth. Maybe the types of truth they are most interested are not the same for most in the lower brackets of society. Especially communism, tends to be great in a small unit like a family in which 2 loving parents ensure all is distributed & everyone gets enough. But in a system of +1 billion there’s no way to be in tune to the needs of everyone so communism doesn’t work.
Considering the origins of CCP which seem to have common the-powers-that-be (TPTB) as Is ra el & Soviet Union & NKorea (around 1948), maybe CCP plays a unique roll. I don’t believe those apparently in power in any of those countries are REALLY in power (same with US & others).
China’s roll seems to be maybe an experiment besides extreme control over people so they can use, abuse & kill whenever & however TPTB want. In many (most?) countries, religion is used as a way to manipulate people by TPTB. But not in China - nor in NKorea - where the government is put up as the only permissible gods.

Re: Censorship: Those Who Love Power Ultimately Hate Truth
Censorship is something the losing side of a debate advocates whether they know it or not.
Bad ideas are easily dismantled and defeated in a public forum by simply debunking them. At the same time bad ideas and outright lies pushed by powerful elements in society depend on censorship to survive.
Disabling the comment section of a YouTube video or news article is an example of censorship. You know an idea or narrative pushed by a video or news article is extremely bad and weak when debate and responses aren't permitted.

I agree that censorship is implemented when those in control of speech realize some truths will hurt them. They know - on some level - that their argument has no real foundation so they control what people hear/read.[email protected] wrote: ↑October 16th, 2023, 11:20 pm Censorship is something the losing side of a debate advocates whether they know it or not.

But those who control the narratives tend to “win” herds’ minds - which make up the majority. Still, as in the case of Lot, all that’s required is a relatively small # of good people to do good.

What are you saying? That Mao cam from Soviet Union (wasn't around when he came to power) and North Korea, there wasn't a North Korea when he came to power and founded CCP, that would have been, what 1927.
He later adopted Marxism–Leninism while working at Peking University as a librarian and became a founding member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), leading the Autumn Harvest Uprising in 1927.

??? Not sure the point Mao was in power in 1927, China was multiple countries then but his rise to power had more to do with Japanese occupation than US.Thinker wrote: ↑October 20th, 2023, 12:15 am“The Chinese Communist Revolution was a social and political revolution that culminated in the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949.“TheDuke wrote: ↑October 18th, 2023, 11:24 amWhat are you saying? Re: Censorship: Those Who Love Power Ultimately Hate Truth
I believe - especially after reading the “P rotocols of the Learned Elders of z ion” - that the powers that be jointly helped organize those countries I mentioned. Probably many others to some extent, but the timing is interesting for those.TheDuke wrote: ↑October 20th, 2023, 9:59 am???
