Isaiah 13
Isaiah 13 is a prophecy for this time as it is starting to be fulfilled in real time. It prophesies of armies being gathered by the king of Assyria to attack Babylon. One key part of the prophecy is that the Medes, an ancient Iranian people, will be stirred up. It prophesies that the Medes won't have mercy on anyone, even the infants. How startling, considering the horrors of the past week in Israel. These horrors are a foretaste of the bitter events to come.
The Assyrian army will enter the "precincts of the elite," but God promises that he will call out his valiant ones so that they will not partake of the wrath to come.
The tribulations prophesied include darkness over the Earth such that the sun is obscured and the moon hidden, the hearts of all melting, all terrified, men's faces on fire, the end of arrogant men, humbled tyrants, and the depopulation of the Earth as men will be rarer than gold. Babylon will be overthrown, it's buildings and streets to never be populated again.
