Isaiah 8
Just two years or so before Assyria invades the Kingdoms of Israel and Syria, the Lord has Isaiah write the words, Hasten the Plunder, Hurry the Spoil prophesying of this event. Isaiah then was given a son and told to name him those words, Maher-Shalel-Hash-Baz as spoken in Hebrew as a prophecy to the tribes of Israel.

Then the prophecy is given that because the House of Judah had rejected the House of David (the waters of Shiloah) the land of Judah would be invaded and all but the head, Jerusalem, would be overcome.

Then Isaiah explains that the Assyrians would also not be spared because ultimately, once they are cleansed and repent, God is with Israel. This was fulfilled when the Lord's angel destroyed the army of the Assyrians in the time of Hezekiah, after Hezekiah had led the Kingdom of Judah in repentance.

This is what will happen to us. First Ephraim will be punished and spoiled, and only a repentant remnant will be left, and then Judah will be invaded and will be conquered, all but Jerusalem. Only after the repentance of the Jews will they be saved through the mercy of their Messiah.
______

Then, the Lord speaks to Isaiah in personal terms. He counsels Isaiah not to think of the invasions of Ephraim and Judah as conspiracies or to be afraid of such. Instead the Lord counsels Isaiah to continue to fear him. By doing so the Lord will be our refuge, but to those in the house of Jacob, or the two kingdoms, the Lord will be a stumbling block that they will break themselves on. Eventually, Jehovah will tell the saints who fear him to not testify to those who don't fear him, thus binding up the testimony and sealing the law. Pearls don't belong with hogs. Jehovah hides his face from the house of Jacob while Isaiah and his sons stand as a witness against them.

At the end, the house of Israel is left looking to spiritualists and mediums for prophecy because they wouldn't believe the word of God. They are left in utter gloom and darkness.
