My 6-year-old son just asked me if I love him or Jesus more

How would you respond?

I told him that I love Jesus more than any human because I wouldn't be able to love my son in the way he deserved without Jesus. That Jesus comes before anyone. I told him that Jesus loves him more than I can , so he must love Jesus more than he loves me.

It was a strange conversation. I've never brought up the fact that people should love Jesus more than their family....I felt it wasn't a thing a little child should contemplate yet.

He seemed to understand....but idk, I hope i planted a good seed.....

😕 I don't feel adequate to be a dad sometimes. The older my boy gets the more I feel like a dipsh!t

Just tell him yes and tuck him into bed.

The answer is not mutually exclusive. To love your son is to love Jesus. To love Jesus is to love your son. Showing love to any of God’s creations shows your love for God.

He's just not satisfied unless I explain things in detail.
Whatever....it is what it is

Haha. Kids are so funny. You never know what is going on in their heads.

A few months ago my five year old was riding quietly in the back of the car and then suddenly, out of nowhere said, "Someday my childhood will end."

Uh, yup. What the heck? 😂

I was reminded of Amy Call’s NDE and something stood out to me. When she was in Heaven she got the overwhelming sensation of wanting to worship or give adoration to God. But what she also found just as amazing was that God was reciprocating that same feeling for her.

That sounds like one of those hard parent moments where the words for the right answer just don't come easy.

My first response would have been to ask him if someone else told you to ask me that question?

Great answer.

The atonement is the greatest gift delivered to us by Jesus. I love Jesus more because through his atonement and eternal gospel i make it to the celestial kingdom to become a God. As a God i can rescue my children, my ex, my dad and brothers from hell.

My first thought is that I suspect love may not work like that, like some kind of discrete resource limited by scarcity. While it makes normal sense in my mind that some people I love more than others, I obviously love my family more than the neighbours down the road, but still idea of loving Jesus somehow being in comparison against or competition with love for family members strikes me as a flawed premise and mortal misunderstanding, some kind of mix-up in terms of scale. While I don't get how it would work, I'm inclined to think that serving others is serving God, and somehow love for others is love for Christ, in a more 1-1, non-metaphorical sense than one might think. Maybe it's hard for us to compute this on account of our present fallen nature, but there's definitely some profound cosmic re-framing that Jesus is teaching in terms of how we interrelate with each other having serious and intimate ramifications with our individual and collective relationships with God himself, which would suggest that love may in reality end up being more 'quantum' than we now think for lack of a better word.

But I doubt saying loving others and Jesus is kind of the same thing would be a particularly satisfying answer lol

I did. He said no. I asked him why he asked me that and he said he just was thinking about it

I talk about Jesus a lot, so I'm sure it was something I said and he just put 2&2 together

I'm going to challenge this thought process for a second.

So how will you do this as God and God will not?

I"m trying to understand your belief in God. Are you saying that you as a God will have a different view and will then be able to "save" your children, your ex and your dad and brothers from hell because you love them more than God now does? Or you will have more power? Or you will perceive things differently than God will at some point in the future, differently than God, who gives you life and says we are to be one with Him? That you will change the decrees of God and the choices of your family in the future- that God's laws really aren't good, but yours are-? Are you sure they are going to hell? Also, do you think God is sending them to hell if they go there? Or that they are choosing hell because they can't dwell with God for their own perceptions, but not because God doesn't want them there?

Jesus lives in you. So when I love you, I also love Him.

John 15:5
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Do you love your own flesh-&-blood son more than dogmatic human sacrifice scapegoating lies passed down from Constantine & Eusebius??

And you said you love the latter more??

I suggest you tell your son that you are still learning & want to get back with him on that. Then do your own due diligence in studying the herd mentalities you claim as your own but are really from corrupt theocratic leaders centuries ago who used Christianity to justify threatening, hurting & killing many people during the inquisition and crusades if they didn’t believe in Jesus as they told them to (& as many still believe today).

Your antichrist rhetoric is weak

Your herd is bigger than mine.
You lean on your own understanding like your modern brothers &sisters of the world.
Lol it's cute that you think you're in the minority of spiritual thought.

I'm good on taking any spiritual advice from you.

Nightlight,
You get so pissed and then emotion clouds your judgment of basic facts. Christianity as you have been led to believe (that is human sacrifice scapegoating as Constantine/Eusebius & others mistaught), accounts for the BIGGEST RELIGIOUS HERD MENTALITY…

Image

"Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” - Matthew 7:14

“Behold, there are many called, but few are chosen. And why are they not chosen? Because their hearts are set so much upon the things of this world, & aspire to the honors of men…” - D&C 121:34-35

If you know of people who do not believe in religious dogmas for praises of men, but do believe in God, please let me know! I have found that atheists, agnostics as well as theists tend to gravitate toward herd mentalities that I simply cannot pretend to believe in. Even Unitarians or “nondenominational” churches entertain dogmas I consider immoral.
