What the heck is wrong with some Utah Mormons?
Parents of 6 children in Springville had a very popular YouTube vlog about their life called 8 Passengers, until it was stopped when one of their boys revealed he was made to sleep on the floor for months. They were investigated, but did not lose any of their children.
A life coach and social worker has a business based in Orem called Connexions that makes a ton of money selling a weird counseling service.
The two women have become friends, and the mother of 6 now works for Connexions.
Kevin Franke, BYU instructor, his wife, Ruby, and life coach Jodi Hildebrandt were arrested this week for severe child abuse. A child escaped the life coach’s home and ran to a neighbors house and asked for food and water. This was in Ivins, near St George. She was severely malnourished, and had been bound with duct tape, as was another child in that home.
I am still confused, except it boggles my mind that these people are extremely visible on social media, and in their careers, yet believe they can “discipline” children to the point of torture? I
I am so glad I escaped Utah in 1980. Yeah, stuff happens everywhere, but when it happens in Utah it always seems to be active Mormons.

Don’t get me started on Sherri Gardner of Stampin’ Up, whose daughter just got arrested for first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder, and may face the death penalty.

Horrible! The Stampin up story is also nuts! Of course, the Gardner family hired Kirton McConkie and said nothing about the father of their grand-children.Lizzy60 wrote: ↑August 31st, 2023, 2:40 pm Parents of 6 children in Springville had a very popular YouTube vlog about their life called 8 Passengers, until it was stopped when one of their boys revealed he was made to sleep on the floor for months. "What did Shanna Gardner's parents say following her arrest?
The Kirton McConkie Law Firm in Salt Lake City, Utah, provided the following statement on behalf of Gardner's parents, Shelli and Sterling Gardner:
“Words cannot accurately express the depth of our sadness. Family is our top priority. We love our daughter and are focused on supporting her and our entire family as we help our grandchildren navigate this difficult and very confusing time. For their sake and all involved, we caution against further speculation and request privacy as the legal process runs its course. In the meantime, we are thankful for the continued support, thoughtfulness and prayers being so generously shared by friends and loved ones.”

Re: What the heck is wrong with some Utah Mormons?
So, I went and looked at Kevin Franke's reviews on ratemyprofessors.com and it was apparent from the student comments that something was going on. I'll tell you what, that website is amazingly accurate in its reviews of professors. I have worked with dozens of professors and I have never seen it give an incorrect rating, ever. If there are more than 5 ratings it is almost always dead on.
I have noticed that there are a lot of accused luciferians at BYU. I'm wondering if that website would be helpful in identifying them.
Update: I looked at Shalom Leavitt's ratings. She's prominently accused in the David Hamblin witness statements as a Luciferian. It shows her having a 5/5 and I was very surprised. When I looked at individual student feedback and ratings it became clear that something wasn't quite right. If you averaged the actual ratings she should have gotten a 4/5. Then, if you read the ratings, the ones that give her a 5 often read like they were written by the same person. The ratings that give her a 1 are often enough that I'd be worried. A good professors might get 4s or even 3s sometimes, but they almost never get 1s. Hmmm. That's inconclusive to my eyes.

I did some contract work for Stampin Up about 20 years ago and Shelli had herself a whole room full of red flags. That woman was/is nuts. We had to threaten legal recourse just to get paid.

Update: Ruby Franke is being held without bond due to the possibility of self-harm and fleeing the jurisdiction. Jodi is also being held without bond because they found evidence that she knew what was going on with the children and did not get them help, and she also said the children should not be around any other children. What the heck!?!? Any guesses as to why she would say that?

That usually means these children are "acting out" either sexually or harmfully with other children, in the same way they were treated by abusive adults. And children do not know what is appropriate, they only know how they were treated.Lizzy60 wrote: ↑August 31st, 2023, 5:27 pm Update: Ruby Franke is being held without bond due to the possibility of self-harm and fleeing the jurisdiction. Re: What the heck is wrong with some Utah Mormons?
Oh my!
I read about the Gardner’s daughter allegedly murdering her husband. That was such a sad and messed up story and I did think her parents’ statement was odd. Like, that’s what you have to say after your daughter is arrested for murder of her ex husband?! I think it would have been better to say nothing at all!!
Anyway it all goes to show that Mormons are regular people too, and are not immune to these problems.
Sad about the kid sleeping on the floor. I found out about how much YouTubers can make and if they had a popular channel then I think they could afford to buy a bed!!
Sad about the kid that was malnourished too. Geez! Unbelievable!
We really don’t know what’s going on in people’s private lives.
I was reading about the BTK serial killer recently. He wasn’t Mormon but was active in a Lutheran church in Kansas. He was on the church council. Married with two kids. His daughter said she had a good childhood, that they were a normal American family. But in his secret life he was stalking women, breaking into their houses, torturing and killing them. Just insane. It’s hard for my brain to fathom.

Well a real satanic worshipper should be getting blessings and benefits, just like God's own priesthood and members, right? If it is just a make believe human organization, what's the issue? I don’t really understand the connection between the Franke family and Jodi Hildebrandt. I know Ruby worked for her company. But why were they both arrested? Did they both abuse their children separately? Were they living together as lesbians? Or as a polygamous marriage with “Brother Franke”? I’m confused. Whose kids were malnourished and escaped? The Franke’s? Or maybe it was the Hildebrandt’s kids cause she was the life coach and it said near St. George and I think the Frankes lived in Springville?
Sad too that family members had reported them to CPS and police previously and the abuse was allowed to continue.

Ruby and Jodi were working together in the business Connexions, which did podcasts on parenting, using Jodi’s whacko philosophy. Ruby and her husband separated some months ago. The two young children are Ruby’s and were living at Jodi’s home near St George. Ruby lives in Springville, but had filmed a podcast with Jodi, in Jodi’s home, the day before the arrest, so she must have had knowledge of the conditions of the children. Both women were arrested because they were both with the children as recently as the day before.Wolfwoman wrote: ↑September 1st, 2023, 4:18 am I don’t really understand the connection between the Franke family and Jodi Hildebrandt. I have seen nothing about Jodi having a husband or children. She is in her 50’s. She is said to be very anti-LGBTQ, so being in a lesbian relationship with Ruby would be weird, but they seemed to be very close.
If you want to get a peek into their parenting style, check out Ruby talking about withholding Christmas gifts from the two youngest of her children. I will post the video when I find it again.

Re: What the heck is wrong with some Utah Mormons?
I guess I agree, but I would think there would be LESS of them in Utah than other places. What I find weird is Utah Mormons go around professing to be God's chosen people, but then their actions prove otherwise -
- divorce rates... pretty much match the nation (https://worldpopulationreview.com/state ... e-by-state)
- child abuse rates....pretty much match the nation (https://nyrequirements.com/blog/which_u ... buse_cases)
- road rage incidents....are much higher than the rest of the country (https://www.thespectrum.com/story/news/ ... 119332001/)
- poverty rates...8.6% compared to 12.8% for the nation (good job here, mostly: https://www.welfareinfo.org/poverty-rate/utah/)
- debt rates (near the top of states with most personal debt: https://worldpopulationreview.com/state ... t-by-state ) (Should a high amount of personal debt be part of a Zion society?).
shouldn't the teachings lead us to be much better people than we are? shouldn't Utah be at the bottom of these negative lists, instead of in the middle or near the top (road rage)? Or do folks just think they'll "be saved through proximity to the Apostles"? <- that's my bet.
But is there any more important measure of a person's heart than
1) how they treat their children
2) how they treat strangers on the highway
?

Re: What the heck is wrong with some Utah Mormons?
Here is more information on why they are each charged with 6 felonies.
“ Washington County Attorney Eric Clarke told TODAY.com on Sept. 1 that each woman has been charged with six counts of aggravated child abuse. Each count carries a potential prison sentence of up to 15 years and a fine up to $10,000, Clarke's office said.
"There are two juvenile victims in these cases, and each defendant is accused of causing or permitting serious physical injury to the victims in three different ways: (1) a combination of multiple physical injuries or torture, (2) starvation or malnutrition that jeopardizes life, and (3) causing severe emotional harm," Clarke's office said in a news release.”
I want to clarify that with charge #1, Ruby and Jodi are specifically charged with torture in the case of Russell Franke, 12 years old, and with multiple physical injuries in the case of Eve, 10 years old.
Yes, they are charged with torturing a young boy. These are two Mormon mothers who professed to be competent in providing counseling on raising children, and charging a LOT of money for their advice.

The wickedness of some members never ceases to amaze me.......in or out of Utah....we are still all waiting for Chad daybell to get the death penalty for his murderous actions. It's impossible to defend these people in my opinion because they are LDS......the members should be better than this....and yet they just aren't.

Re: What the heck is wrong with some Utah Mormons?
I also read that Jodi got in trouble for disclosing details of someones porn addiction to LDS church officials. I think she may have had her counseling license suspended for telling brethren about someones porn issue without permission. Something tells me Jodi is orchestrating a lot of this. It's purely a guess but perhaps it will come out that Jodi helped split the couple as well. Perhaps Jodi is a bit of an opportunist wishing to experiment with Ruby's family and make some money. Poor kids! I would guess sole custody is with Ruby since her husband wasn't charged. He must not be able to see the kids since they split. I know divorce is messy but if kids can be abused while the wife keeps the husband away that's a problem. I also read Ruby taped paper over her windows when neighbors started reporting her.Lizzy60 wrote: ↑September 1st, 2023, 5:39 amRuby and Jodi were working together in the business Connexions, which did podcasts on parenting, using Jodi’s whacko philosophy. I just listened to a video produced a year ago about Ruby teaming up with Jodi. The guy said that at first Kevin was involved in promoting Connexions (the toxic company of Jodi’s) but then he shut down his Instagram and deleted everything that he had posted about Connexions in his other social media. He was said to have moved out of the Springville house with his older son Chad, and Jodi and Ruby alternated staying in Springville and Ivins. There has never been a divorce so custody was not the issue. It is just that Ruby has always called the shots, especially when she started making a lot of money from YouTube, and Kevin is just a wuss —- according to someone who has followed their story from the beginning. I’m sure we will find out more when this goes to trial.Seed Starter wrote: ↑September 4th, 2023, 6:08 pmI also read that Jodi got in trouble for disclosing details of someones porn addiction to LDS church officials.
No Christmas for you!

Yes, Jodi told a young man’s BYU Bishop that he was addicted to porn which got him kicked out of BYU. This really affected his education negatively. She lost her license for maybe 18 months, and was also taken off the recommended LDS counselors that bishops are given. This was in 2012. Also, she was married, had two children, and then divorced when they were very young, and they were raised mostly by their stepmother. It is said they have very little contact with her. She is called a man-hater by a lot of people in comment sections and on reddit, according to people who are investigating this case. I’m just taking their word for it, but from the few clips I’ve watched, it seems likely.
