I saw light coming down from heaven over the LDS Church today.
Today, I went to a baptism of another faith- it was pretty awesome to see the faith of others as a young man dedicated his life to Jesus Christ - the humility of these individuals was amazing. Just good believing people all praying while the young man was getting baptized, releasing faith while the pastor baptized in the name of hte Father and the Son adn the Holy Ghost. The young man wanted to be baptized- it was jsut a good experience.
I also attended the LDS church- I had promised someone I would talk to them on Sunday, so I attended to keep my promise. As I was praising hte Lord for His mercy and love towards mankind, I saw a light from heaven coming down over the LDS church. It made me think- God loves them- He loves all even if they have a wrong theology - even if they are deceived He is still seeking to manifest His light and truth to them. HE still is communicating with those inside as their hearts are turned to Him (If you draw near unto me, I will draw near unto you). They may be unaware of deception, or wrong thinking but what defines them is that God sees their potential and still loves them He has not condemned them. In the past sometimes I have shown up and there has been an oppressive Spirit, but this time I saw it and it gave me faith to intercede on their behalf- so I went into another room and just prayed for them and for God to continue to share His love and remembered that I am supposed to represent His love to the world as well. He wants to and will work with them He loves them, He loves us. We can not cut others off just because they believe wrong- for 3.5 years Jesus preached and for 3.5 years no one, not even His disciples picked up on things. It wasn't until after He died that people began to understand - so perhaps when we speak to those around us and share truth in love we shouldn't cut them off after 1 month or 2 weeks. We must live our life in truth and as they see the truth through our life, that we are at peace with God and manifest His mercy and grace in greater degrees than before, I believe it will have to open their eyes and unstop their ears, but we can't change our view, we must continue to believe and have faith in the Lord and if Jesus didn't convince everyone in 3 years, maybe we shouldn't worry about convincing people around us in a short time, but jsut be the light, until the darkness can't stay anylonger and the Truth sets them free. We sow, we water, but God brings the increase.
I guess in some ways it was a gentle reminder from the Lord to not get too focused on the wrong teaching that others might be receiving because God can still speak to His children if they draw near Him. He works in mercy even through wrong teaching. In fact I received some very profound lessons from the Father while I was 100% in, but I was seeking the Father - and God in His mercy kept guiding me. So I guess my message is this- don't lose hope for those in the church, don't unintentionally condemn them in your hearts because they don't seem "awake." Continue to bless them and be the light of hte world to them. Show them who CHrist is through your life lived. They need to know love, they need encouragement from the Lord- if the Lord directed you away from them, that is fine, but continue to pray for them because the Lord has not given up on them or any of us for that matter- the end is not yet. He desires all of us to come unto Him and the reality is they are still showing up to church and seeking the best they know how in the darkness they can't see, because the Lord is still pricking their hearts and they desire to know Him in some way, shape or form. Don't lose heart for them, because God hasn't. That applies to all around us. THe moment we begin to cut others off in our heart, we prevent God the Father and His Son from working through us to bless them. How can our light shine if we refuse to shine our liht on them- and by the way, light just shines, it isn't forced. Anyways, just a few thoughts. God bless and keep the faith- don't lose heart or hope- for the Lord still seeks us and desires us as well even in our own faults, so rejoice in the love of God and rejoice in the love He has for others too- It is amazing! He is still blessing and working with them- He has not cut them off- because His church are those who repent and come unto Him, no matter where they are at or what church they attend.

Re: I saw light coming down from heaven over the LDS Church today.
7yrs ago my wife and 3 daughters left the LDS church and became anti-mormon.
Wife started attending a catholic church and didnt like it, then a methodists church and didnt like it and then she became anti-christian, lol.
At the same time I went inactive from LDS but still had a testimony.
Last year God told me to return to LDS so I did.
3 months ago I asked God what path in my professional career should I take. Climb the corporate ladder. Quit the corporate world and go full time on a business idea. He told me "Teach your kids about Jesus".

Membership in the LDS church pretty much ruins our chance of finding happiness in another church.
Church at your home, where you can teach the fullness of the gospel thru word and example is true happiness. God does love us.

Re: I saw light coming down from heaven over the LDS Church today.
I think if we hold to our traditions in can definitely do that. I had to expose myself to a lot of different teachers and ways of hearing. THe Lord then taught me there are a lot of different ways to worship Him- when I realized that and started seeing the heart of these people my traditions no longer held me back. The Lord has had me let go of a lot of my traditions. There are some things other churches do that I find kind of odd, but the Lord then has me look at their intent and their heart- as I start seeing their heart, the Lord softens my heart and I see how much God approves of their sincerity - In some of my own worship I am very stiff, I admire teh flexibility and emotion of other faiths as they pour their heart out to God. Sometimes I think it may be an act, but other times it is quite sincere and the Lord honors sincerity and truth regardless of who it looks.
That said, I agree church at home should happen regardless of attending a physical building.

Yeah, it becomes easy to hate. I know a few other people the LOrd has told to return to the LDS church. I still remainl though I don't feel beholden to it, I go where the Spirit lists to take me any given Sunday- except those Sundays I have obligations.randyps wrote: ↑August 27th, 2023, 10:10 pm 7yrs ago my wife and 3 daughters left the LDS church and became anti-mormon.

100% important to teach your children of the Lord. The will need faith in these coming days to whether the storms- for the storms are coming upon the wise man and the foolish man- only if you are built on the rock of Jesus and His life will we not have everything washed away and will we stand. Keep seeking Him. My only unsolicited advice is this - Don't conflate the church with Jesus, and remember the good that you get from coming to church is because individuals are seeking the Lord in their heart, it isn't because of the organization and rarely is it from those at top, those you encounter on a weekly basis are often sincerely seeking hte Lord even if they ahve wrong thinking or understanding- if you remember that the Lord draws near to those that draw near to Him, it will be clear. Also pretty cool that God is drawing you and your kids to Him- It means He is on your side every step of the way! So keep faith that your kids will learn about Jesus, just ask the Lord how to teach Him to them (the Lord 100%) will tell you because He has told you to teach your kids- He desires them! God bless!

100%....A couple of years ago I asked the Lord if I should leave the church...the Lord responded to love the people no matter what. He has a work to do with the church. it too must be cleansed...so I changed my perspective and I have become less focussed on poor judgement on my part and more focussed on what the Lord wants...it matters not if you stay or go....listen to the Lord and if He requires you to stay...then stay...if He allows you to go...then go...just remember to love the people....John Tavner wrote: ↑August 27th, 2023, 9:40 pm Today, I went to a baptism of another faith- it was pretty awesome to see the faith of others as a young man dedicated his life to Jesus Christ - the humility of these individuals was amazing. Re: I saw light coming down from heaven over the LDS Church today.
True! It is the heart turned to God and opening oneself ot His heart - But to show that God can share revelation through text and seeking I will also share a revelation from text of the Bible which I shared with the young man that was baptized - revelation can come from both sources- because God is good and when we seek Him and seek to yield our will to His, to unite ourselves with Him in sincerity and truth, He answers because HE is love and will show us- so we might manifest His love through us to others.Ymarsakar wrote: ↑August 28th, 2023, 9:07 amA revelatiom has been granted to you.
Here is the revelation: I was reading in Luke, I think When Jesus was baptized - the Lord's voice was heard and He stated "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased and then the Holy Spirit alighted upon Him." I should add when I read scripture, I read it to know the heart of God- I ahve stopped reading for "head" knowledge a while back. I want to know God's heart. So The Father showed me that as I was reading that teh same happens to tohers who are baptized in faith. That the LOrd also Speaks to them "this is my beloved Son (or Daughter) in whom I am well pleased - and HE alights them with the HOly Spirit. They are one with God and from faith are as pure as Jesus is pure -for they believe that when they see Him they will be like HIm. (1 John 3). The Father is well-pleased with us as we embrace the Son with Faith and we have righteousness imputed to us because of His love and mercy and through His life we live.
God is amazing- I love Him and I never could have begun to love Him like I do without first receiving His love and without His love for me first- I seek to love Him more fully- so there is no shadow of changing and I believe it is possible because He is the same and we can be like Him. it is transformative - we are being formed into His image- to be the light in the darkness - to shine and as we shine - the darkness flees.

John, when your god wants to get a message to you, they go and find something you will read. It does not need to be a bible. Go find a random.book, ask ur god a question and flip to a random page. The bible is used more becUse people associate it with their god more mentally.John Tavner wrote: ↑August 28th, 2023, 9:17 amTrue! Notice no text or bible was needed.John Tavner wrote: ↑August 27th, 2023, 9:40 pm Today, I went to a baptism of another faith- it was pretty awesome to see the faith of others as a young man dedicated his life to Jesus Christ - the humility of these individuals was amazing.
My God speaks through Truth and Life and Jesus is the Truth and the Life - He is and was the manifestation of the Father in the flesh. If you want to know God it is in Christ- otherwise the view of God will be distorted and it leads to deception. It is why It is why Jesus is hte Light of the world. The words in the New Testament are of Truth of who God is and how He operates in teh world. Jesus and the revelation of Him is the rock and standing on that rock is what prevents the gates of hell from prevailing. Of course as I've stated beforehand God can speak through any book as we ask questions, but the purpose is less about asking questions and more about becoming and spending time with Him- as we become the answers are there already. If the Truth sets us free, then we must hear truth first. It is knowing Christ that we know the Father and knowing the Father is eternal life- eternal life allows us to see clear and not be shifted by every wind of doctrine- we remain "rooted and grounded in love" and "take captive every thought and put it in submission to Christ" (all words from teh book, which are true and set us free).Ymarsakar wrote: ↑August 28th, 2023, 9:21 amJohn, when your god wants to get a message to you, they go and find something you will read. There are many who seek gods and read books and obtain "revelations" from other sources, but often they don't realize that their revelations are not from the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God represented of by and through the life of Jesus Christ. Too often people think any revelation is from the source above, but other sources can provide revelations, sometimes true, sometimes false, but all with the intent in the end to lead away from God. While I appreciate the reminder that God can speak to us anytime and that is true! Indeed it is true if God dwells in us, but - if one spends time in books about darkness, they find htemselves more familiar with darkness, in books of light they begin to know light. Intent is key - books about God are not about head knowledge, but about intimate relationship with God. To get confused with that will lead to dark paths because one isn't familiar enough with the light- if one doesn't know what salvation is like, their version of salvation will be twisted when the speak on it- though there may be truths, it is missing the Truth. One doesn't quite hear the voice of truth as clearly and can deceive themselves as they develop lust/ covetousness for the world and selfishness - focused on self-preservation - from which stem every evil thing.

Re: I saw light coming down from heaven over the LDS Church today.
"Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God." God's word can come forth from above, in text from those around us. The goal is that we become the Word like Jesus was the Word- so our lives are living epistles of God, that it is witnessed in word and deed. Revelation can only come from above, but truth can be found in text, written from those who preached :
Romans 10 14How then can they call on the One in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach? 15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” 16But not all of them welcomed the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” 17Consequently, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.18But I ask, did they not hear? Indeed they did: “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.”
How has it gone out? Through live messengers and through the text. It is in believing one can begin to receive revelation from on high. Upon the realization that one is a Son they can then receive on High, but baby steps- one must still keep focused on Christ as Peter said.
1 Peter: 12Therefore I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are established in the truth you now have. 13 I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of my body, 14because I know that this tent will soon be laid aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. 5And I will make every effort to ensure that after my departure, you will be able to recall these things at all times. 16For we did not follow cleverly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.17For He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to Him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” 18And we ourselves heard this voice from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. 19We also have the word of the prophets as confirmed beyond doubt. And you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.20Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture comes from one’s own interpretation. 21For no such prophecy was ever brought forth by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 55: 11so My word that proceeds from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please, and it will prosper where I send it. 12You will indeed go out with joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Which word came forth? Jesus Christ. Through Him it will prosper where sent. and it will not return empty handed.
You are right that all revelation from God comes from above, and the bible is merely word if not seeking God and can be twisted, but the words therein have truth as Jesus said John 5: You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. - the purpose of hte Bible though is to turn ones thoughts and heart to God always to obtain a witness and to grow to an understanding we can obtain a witness and greater witness our selves - it ought not remain only in the Bible, but it helps to keep us grounded so we maintin the base witness of Jesus Christ and the Father as represented in Jesus life and those who knew Him - so when we see and experience other htings our heart is still turned to God - it is a reminder as Peter says of Jesus and to not get so self-focused we lose sight of what God has given us.

Re: I saw light coming down from heaven over the LDS Church today.
Isaiah wrote about this Church in Isaiah 29.
-Isaiah prophecies of nuclear war and other destructions in verses 1-6.
-In verses 7 through 12 the Lord explains that the Church will be amazed for we thought the leaders would warn them, but because of our worldly philosophies and materialism the Lord covered our seers and prophets.
-In v. 13 the Lord explains that the modern Church is filled with people that draw near with their lips, but don't have their hearts drawn to him.
-in verses 14 through 16 the Lord explains that the secret combination that works in the dark which has infected the Church will be revealed and overcome through miraculous means which will be a marvelous work and a wonder.
-In v. 17 the Lord is saying that Lebanon (which indicates Ephraim and Manassah, or the modern Church and Lehi's descendants) will become a fruitful field (meaning that we become a righteous people with the fruits of the gospel) and will be esteemed as a forest, meaning that we will become a nation, or a large people.
Then we read,
To me Isaiah 29 is one of the most important of all scriptures for the modern Church because, even though it doesn't whitewash our terrible situation, it gives us hope. It says that God knows that many (a tithe of us is still many) of these people will repent (I am one of them who needs to repent) and will walk in the straight and narrow to the Tree of Life in the New Jerusalem. This gives me great hope!

Then we read,
So, to me this says that soon many in the Church will be able to hear and see and will begin to understand Isaiah. They will joy in their Savior and King, Jesus the Son of God. President Nelson, the terrible one that sits in the temple of God as if he were God (2 Thessalonians 2) will be brought to naught, and Elder Rasband, that scorner of those who love the Lord, and all like him will be consumed. Jacob will be redeemed and those who erred in spirit and doctrine will learn true things by the Spirit of God.18 ¶ And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.
19 The meek also shall increase their joy in the Lord, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
20 For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off:
21 That make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nought.
22 Therefore thus saith the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale.
23 But when he seeth his children, the work of mine hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name, and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel.
24 They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.

Re: I saw light coming down from heaven over the LDS Church today.
I don't know if I agree that the scriptures are about the LDS church only per-se, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were a small type and shadow and this could still be true applied to the LDS church- I believe this scripture is more all-encompassing, over all who claim to be Christian if anything, but I do agree that we need to maintain hope and believe- if we don't believe we can' repent and change then there is no expectation of salvation or redemption - we curse ourselves and others because of our unbelief and remain damned. So I'm glad this scripture gives you hope! Keep seeking- He loves you and is definitely calling, otherwise He never would have given you the hope in this scripture!Atrasado wrote: ↑August 28th, 2023, 10:45 am Isaiah wrote about this Church in Isaiah 29.
Then we read,So, to me this says that soon many in the Church will be able to hear and see. They will joy in their Savior and King, Jesus the Son of God. President Nelson, the terrible one that sits in the temple as if he were God (2 Thessalonians 2) will be brought to naught, and Elder Rasband, that scorner of those who love the Lord, and all like him will be consumed.

It’s the only church that has talked about the everlasting covenant, the new everlasting covenant or how the Father was not born of woman!John Tavner wrote: ↑August 28th, 2023, 11:03 amI don't know if I agree that the scriptures are about the LDS church only per-se, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were a small type and shadow and this could still be true applied to the LDS church- I believe this scripture is more all-encompassing, over all who claim to be Christian if anything, but I do agree that we need to maintain hope and believe- if we don't believe we can' repent and change then there is no expectation of salvation or redemption - we curse ourselves and others because of our unbelief and remain damned. Not really - I actually have heard quite a few pastors talk of the everlasting covenant/ and the new and everlasting covenant. The LDS church doesn't have a monopoly on certain words despite our traditions that we do.Bronco73idi wrote: ↑August 28th, 2023, 11:37 amIt’s the only church that has talked about the everlasting covenant, the new everlasting covenant or how the Father was not born of woman!John Tavner wrote: ↑August 28th, 2023, 11:03 amI don't know if I agree that the scriptures are about the LDS church only per-se, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were a small type and shadow and this could still be true applied to the LDS church- I believe this scripture is more all-encompassing, over all who claim to be Christian if anything, but I do agree that we need to maintain hope and believe- if we don't believe we can' repent and change then there is no expectation of salvation or redemption - we curse ourselves and others because of our unbelief and remain damned. God would tell me straight if that was His desire. God gives information with what He shows me- and I understood what He was communicating to me.
I want to be clear though, I still attend every other week- sometimes a bit more or less- I never left the church, I decided to become the church. God is calling us to be His church- to be His bride - to be His Body. If I stop attending the LDS church there is no leaving- because I am still the church through the Grace of God.

JT it sounds like you are appreciating the LDS church for its restored gospel truths but condemning its members for being imperfect sinful people? leading the church to be an imperfect sinful church?

Re: I saw light coming down from heaven over the LDS Church today.
Not condemnation at all on anyone- I"m not sure how you got that I was condemning members- How can I condemn members when I am telling others to have hope and to love and teach them truth? Condemnation is as if judgement has already occurred. Man condemns themselves- not even Jesus offers condemnation- indeed HE came to save from condemnation. Perhaps the opposite of what you are thinking I am saying. I am praising the people for seeking God despite the false traditions and lies they have learned from. That God works with them despite false traditions and understandings of who God is. That God will meet them where they are at- He doesn't want them to remain there, but He will meet htem where they are at and is always wooing them to Him and His presence is available to all no matter where they are or what organizaiton they attend. I am praising God for His mercy and love towards them regardless of false beliefs that have been propagated over the past 200 years. Yes there are truths taught in the LDS church, but also many distortions of the Truth. That jsut because an organization might fail in many ways, God still loves His people and works to touch them even if there is a better way- that the organization itself can not and will never save, it is only in and through Jesus Christ man can be saved- by faith on Him.
What I am appreciating most is the mercy and love of God towards His children- that He has not cast them off, nor should we, no matter how "lost" or "confused" or how many lies they might believe. That we ought to live as Jesus did and walk among them and not have a "need" that peopel believe the words we speak immediately. We sow and water, and God brings the increase- that we ought to withhold our judgment and NOT condemn them, but show them the Love of God and how He has not forsaken them and "if they draw near unto Him, He will draw near unto them."

sorry, Condemn was the wrong word...acknowledge.
You are acknowledging the false traditions and beliefs and lies within the the LDS church, which all of us have recognized. Some to a smaller degree than others.
Are churches (of any religion) needed?

Re: I saw light coming down from heaven over the LDS Church today.
One of my first thoughts is how can I cut off people and claim I am a member of the Body of Christ? I can't cut off hands and feet when I might be the torso or arm. The Body meets together and is fit together to help show the love of God to the world- because we meet together to remind ourselves and stir ourselves up to udnerstand we can become love through Christ.
As James said, the only pure religion undefiled is this "To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." I'm think you meant organization though and I would state organizaitons can be good- they allow for people to gather together. The only danger with organizations is when we think the organization takes precedence over knowing Christ over becoming the church ourselves. Sometimes organizations can become so "religious" that we fight on the way there, praise Jesus when we are there, and fight with one another on the way back. There is something deeply and inherently wrong with doing things like that and it means our heart will become harder and harder- so we just have to make sure our actions don't become so rote and vain that we lose sight of God- "going to church because "its' the right thing to do" or reading our scriptures becuase "I need to." We go to bless others and read to know God.
That said I do believe it is important to gather together to share and speak the word of the Lord. Hebrews 10 states : 23Let us hold resolutely to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. 24And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. 25Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
It is important to gather together to stir one another up into faith and good works - to be encouraged and hold resolutely to the hope we profess - Christ in us, the hope of glory and we need to remember that as those who profess to be Christians we often are the ones who may "stir" others up in faith and good works.
I know i threw ought a lot of things, hopefully that makes sense. I guess in a nutshell, I'm not opposed to churches/organizations, but as long as they are placed in their rightful understanding- and that we embrace the idea that we are the church and help one anotehr become edified as we gather together- seeking hte Lord together. If we aren't careful we cut off those around us and say we are living like Christ, but in reality and living selfishly and very self0focused because others disagree with us- and show it is all about us rather than about God.
