I just finished a new video and article about how the early church was turned over to Satan because of their disobedience to God. Basically they had the fulness then rejected it and so God left them to their own devices. This resulted in the 1838 Missouri conflicts that almost killed the church.

Interestingly, God told Joseph that "something new must be done" for his church so he starts international missionary work. Then almost all the members travelling west were these gathered international members. These were the wild branches that need to be grafted in from Jacob 5. It all fits so well and is frankly fascinating to me.

They did not use the Book of Mormon as the new covenant! They desired a prophet leader like Joseph to receive “revelation “ for everything and trusted in a man and were subsequently given what they wanted. They rejected the simple truths in the Book of Mormon and instead wanted to “live by every word that proceeded from the mouth of”Joseph.
The church today is a mirror of those days. We reject what the Book of Mormon teaches about the church’s organization, the gospel of salvation and instruction regarding the Savior and who He is. And most members can’t wait for another general conference to supplant the words of God in the scriptures- Bible and Book of Mormon.

And they cannot see this is what they are doing. Leaders leading followers into the ditch.

While some of it was review for me, I found your treatment of the Missouri War particularly insightful. Section 121 certainly seems more introspective to Joseph in light of the Missouri War, and even more so with the added context of the mass purging of many of the “old standard” saints in Kirtland.
