Thanks - someday that would be nice.
For now, some are already on it…

Last time I visited (non-rainy season), Seattle was my favorite city - everywhere you turn - water.
Your home for discussing politics, the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and the principles of liberty.

got lazy and used Costco microwave popcorn last night. Not raining today for a change. Heading to Utah next week, and it is reported to be raining there now.........
I have that trouble at church. I'm fine with dessert at the potlucks and such, but every week my kids come home with candy. And not just a piece or two.Telavian wrote: ↑April 21st, 2023, 10:08 amI understand that to some people it might be a sign of love. Those are loaded with a 1000 ingredients, and probably aren't nutritionally safe to even look at.
It would be totally different if someone made something themselves with basic (hopefully organic) ingredients and then offered it to others.
Is it really love if I am offering you junk from the discount section of the store?

In our last ward they had root beer floats in the hallway after primary one week.
One time when I asked the teachers to not give my kids candy anymore one said "it wouldn't be fair since I give it to the other kids." I said just don't give it to mine. She refused and continued to give my kids candy.
In our kids defense they sometimes said no when offered, but that is really hard for adult let alone a kid, so we just encouraged them to be strong and kept going.
My poor daughter struggles with being overweight and has tried to talk to her leaders about maybe less treats and candy. No support. They are so worried about eating disorders like anorexia that they refuse to see overweight as a problem. And many of them and their children and scary fat.
Just one more problem that makes church and activities less desirable than home church.
Honestly, at this point I am having trouble seeing church as providing anything good.
Junk doctrine.
Junk food.
At home we are learning though. More meat, less carbs. (Even the so called healthy ones like whole grains) don't know what to make of the word of wisdom at this point. It made us so fat and sick eating fresh ground wheat, oatmeal, beans and rice. Even with plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit.
Now we do meat and vegetables mostly and fruit sparingly and grains are avoided. So much healthier. Every fat person in our house has lost significant weight and all the skinny kids are filling out.
It boggles my mind daily.
I appreciate advice. We do intermittent fasting and so does she.Ymarsakar wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2023, 11:27 amI have some advice for your daughter.JuneBug12000 wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2023, 11:00 amI have that trouble at church. This is called intermediate fasting. It is an indian ayurvedic method with 4000 years of data.
Essentially gluten and wheat has problems these days. You can still eat them but you need to fast to detox the effects otherwise inflamation crops up.
So i eat 1 meal a day and i work a physical job 4 to 7 hours a day. The less meals i eat the more energy. If i eat some grains or meat, the energy goes to my stomach.
The ayurvedic intermediate fasting for your daughter would not be so extreme. 2 meals a day. Thr objective is to give the digestion system a break. Breakfast and dinner. With juice water through the day if they get really hungry or weak or low brain sugar.
This converts monthly fasting into a regular diet.
I have plenty of energy if i eat 1 cup of super food reds and some v8 pomegranate juice for the day as a daily. Then i eat like grains pasta 3 days a week. Now it is like zero days a week. And meat 1 per month or per week depending.
I can go off the diet and eat anything so long as i return to intermediate fasting.
The point is to reduce the time the digestion system is working. To build up thr gut fire. Easy to digest food with hot sauces are also great for digestion.
Artificial weirdness, milkz cheese, wheats grains, are a severe problem in these days. They have been poisoned to some extent unless u just grow or eat em raw.
For carbs i eat idaho mashed potatoes, dried, and rice. No wheat just rice. And i avoid soy. Whatevr u grow in a garden is great too. I like herbs like basil.
Sounds like your family has a diabetes 2 state of vulnerability. Once they heal from it they will be able to eat rice again.JuneBug12000 wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2023, 11:37 amI appreciate advice. A glucose monitor showed us that the grains and not good for us right now. When we were checking blood sugar it became apparent that a serving of rice was worse than a dessert. Even a large dessert by a significant number.
Eggs, beef, cheese, others meats had a negligible effect on blood sugar. We drink raw milk. With the meat and veggies we are losing weight. With the whole grains and veggies we still gained.
It make sense. In the OT Daniel said those who ate the pulse and refused the kings meat were fatter in flesh.
Well, in our family, our flesh has gotten too fatbeside many B vitamin and other deficiencies. And meat is healing us.

If you want to experiment with superfoods, organifi is the label with gold that tastes like ice cr3am. Expensive brand. Nutra champs and country reds are about a 3rd in price. Amazon.
Hyrum understood much given his short years as a humanBrighidara wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2023, 12:42 pm Of course, grace by grace they may, just as we all may! Through our agency we may choose to partake of those gifts God intends for our healing & purifying, to purge all our dross & infirmities away. In doing so we’ll ultimately be restored to our perfect state and fulfill the full measure of our creation. But all this is according to our agency … we go “grace to grace, from exaltation to exaltation until (we) attain to the resurrection … to dwell in everlasting burnings, and to sit in glory as do those who sit enthroned in everlasting power…“ The Lord sends His servants to help us out of the ruts or bondages this fallen world has kept us in. You’ll know those servants by their fruits.
Here’s some excerpts from a discourse by Hyrum Smith that elaborate further:
“When God first made man upon the earth, he was a different being entirely to what he now is; his body was strong; athletic, robust, and healthy; his days were prolonged upon the earth; he lived nearly one thousand years, his mind was vigorous and active, and his intellectual faculties clear and comprehensive, but he has become degenerated; his life has dwindled to a span; disease preys upon his system; his body is enervated and feeble; and his mentle [mental] and intellectual faculties are impaired, and weakened; and man is not now that dignified, noble, majestic, honorable, and mighty being that he was when he first proceeded from the hands of his maker.
The Lord has in his wise designs revealed unto us his will; he has told us as he did his ancient prophets that the “earth shall be redeemed-that the curse shall be removed from it-that the wolf and the lamb shall lie down together-that the lion shall eat straw like the ox;-and that they shall not hurt nor destroy-that the knowledge of the Lord shall cover the earth, as the waters covers the sea”-that man’s days shall be as the “days of a tree,” that he shall again live one thousand years on the earth-this is the “time of the restoration of all things,” and this has got to be brought about by the wisdom and power of God, and the wisdom, obedience and faith of man combined.
Every thing has become degenerated from what it was in its primitive state; “God made man pure, but he has found out many inventions:” his vices have become innumerable, and his diseases multiplied; his taste had become vitiated, and his judgment impaired; he has fallen-fallen-fallen, from that dignified state that he once occupied on the earth; and it needs a restorative that man has not in his possession-wisdom which is beyond the reach of human intellect;-and power which human philosophy, talent and ingenuity cannot control. God only is acquainted with the fountain of action, and the main springs of human events; he knows where disease is seated, and what is the cause of it;-he is also acquainted with the spring of health; the balm of Gilead-of life; he knows what course to pursue to restore mankind to their pristine excellency and primitive vigour [vigor], and health; and he has appointed the word of wisdom as one of the engines to bring about this thing, to remove the [page 799] beastly appetites, the murderous disposition and the vitiated taste of man; to restore his body to health, and vigour [vigor], promote peace between him and the brute creation, and as one of the little wheels in God’s designs, to help to regulate the great machinery, which shall eventually revolutionize the earth, and bring about the restoration of all things, and when they are restored he will plant “the tree of life, whose leaves shall be for the healing of the nations.
… Why is it that we are frequently so dull and languid? it is because we break the word of wisdom, disease preys upon our system, our understandings are darkened, and we do not comprehend the things of God; the devil takes advantage of us, and we fall into temptation. Not only are they injurious in their tendency, and baneful in their effects, but the importation of foreign products might be the means of thousands of our people being poisened [poisoned] at a future time, through the advantage that an enemy might take of us, if we made [page 800] use of these things that are thus spoken of as being evil; and be it remembered-that this instruction is given “in consequence of evils that do and will exist in the hearts of conspiring men.
…but for the beasts of the field, and the fowls of heaven, and all wild animals that run or creep on the earth; and these hath God made for the use of man only in times of famine, and excess of hunger.
Let men attend to these instructions, let them use the things ordained of God; let them be sparing of the life of animals; ‘it is pleasing saith the Lord that flesh be used only in times of winter, or of famine’-and why to be used in famine? because all domesticated animals would naturally die, and may as well be made use of by man, as not.”

Let's do it. Anyone else up to a lunch/dinner?Thinker wrote: ↑April 25th, 2023, 9:27 amThe rain is following you - can’t escape it!
Hey, if you want we could try to get a lunch or dinner forum-meet-up while you’re in Utah… though I’m not sure which part you’re visiting. We usually meet around Lehi (between SLC & utah county).
Either way, enjoy your trip!

I used to be more connected to Rob years ago and he was extremely "helpful" to a single mother - inviting her to his house to help her. She told me one night the conversation went very late about polygamy and Rob's wife told her later that she didn't like polygamy but knew she (Rob's wife) couldn't "see the Lord" unless she agreed to it. I confronted Rob about this but he insists he was just "helping" the single mother out of charity (never mind that she is drop dead gorgeous). A friend of mine confronted Rob about the fact that Rob says he's seen the Lord but can't seem to get his family to "return to His presence" and so why is he knocking himself out like a slave to "help others" on his blog and through books (he's always whining about how hard he works to write books and help us all out) but he can't even get his own family to "do what he's done".Telavian wrote: ↑April 15th, 2023, 3:24 pmI like him but I can easily see him starting a compound with a bunch of young girls somewhere.Wolfwoman wrote: ↑April 15th, 2023, 1:49 pm Hahaha
Why am I not surprised? Rob Smith would say something like that. He is INSANE. I truly believe he needs a psychological evaluation.
There are people maintaining their obesity on 800 calories a day.
I’m not overweight, but I work my butt off and diet just to barely stay under the line that a doctor’s chart would say is overweight. I can barely stay under the line. I gain weight eating salads.
After hearing all the crazy weirdo stuff in the Lori Vallow murder trial, I’m honestly concerned for Rob or anyone “following” him. Maybe I’m just extra sensitive to it right now. But it’s scary to think about the weird ideas out there and the people who just buy into them.
There is certainly something not right going on. I am not sure about the single mother situation however I have experienced everything else personally.Grassland wrote: ↑April 26th, 2023, 6:20 am I used to be more connected to Rob years ago and he was extremely "helpful" to a single mother - inviting her to his house to help her. I have seen Rob out and out lie on his blog and also called him out on that. After repeated interactions with him, I can confidently say he is mentally ill as well as narcissistic. When I say I feel sad for his wife - I mean it. I can't imagine how he has warped her mind through all these years and then everything he put her through when he said those gross things and got fired from the University of Montana. Yet, Rob STILL can't let his blog go and his deep need for a following of ANY kind and he does it under the guise of "trying to help". What a gift to his family if he took all the time he spends "writing and blogging" (and complaining and judging others) and turned it on spending time with his family. He complains he has "so little time" - what if he gave it to his kids???
The truth about people who are over weight is complicated. Having worked in situations where I help others I have found the obese people often either have an underlying health issue that causes the weight gain OR there has been abuse (typically sexual abuse) and the weight gain is to maintain a feeling of safety. You think Jesus is going to bar that person from heaven? Rob Smith is truly sick, sick, sick, sick, sick and I pray for him to come to know Jesus Christ as often as I remember to (I really do). We must pray for people like him who are caught up in a strong delusion and think everyone else is out of the way. Only God can reach such a soul.
Sounds good!HereWeGo wrote: ↑April 25th, 2023, 12:02 pmLet's do it. Anyone else up to a lunch/dinner?Thinker wrote: ↑April 25th, 2023, 9:27 amThe rain is following you - can’t escape it!

He talks about how his time is so precious and then does a 1.5 hour video about a subject he has spoken about 50 times already.
I have pointed out wrong thing on his blog and he got very upset.
He says he is doing it because God asks him to, however then complains about viewership metrics.
He has made "prophecies" and then touted articles to suggest he was correct. I pointed out that one of these "prophecies" was actually from a book almost 100 years old and then he dropped the subject.
I also pray for him. He is smart and I think he has a lot to offer the world.
