Did Russell M Nelson Give Possession of His Priesthood Keys to Pope Francis?
March 2019 - President Nelson visits with the pope.
October 2019 - President Nelson changes the temple recommend questions, which now indicate he no longer possesses the keys.

Re: Did Russell M Nelson Give Possession of His Priesthood Keys to Pope Francis?
You took the words right out of my mouth. We think these keys are something men can give and take at will.
D&C84
19 And this greater priesthood administereth the gospel and holdeth the key of the mysteries of the kingdom, even the key of the knowledge of God.
There is a reason the keys will be taken from the gentile church. They have altered the fullness of the gospel. These keys, or fullness, has been taken from them through their disobedience and distortion of the knowledge of God.

These keys have also been removed from the top leadership of the church:
26 And the lesser priesthood continued, which priesthood holdeth the key of the ministering of angels and the preparatory gospel;

I think you’re jumping to conclusions. What is it about the temple recommend questions indicating he no longer possesses keys?endlessQuestions wrote: ↑March 8th, 2023, 5:27 am March 2019 - President Nelson visits with the pope.

Question 4:
Do you sustain the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the prophet, seer, and revelator and as the only person on the earth authorized to exercise all priesthood keys?
Do you sustain the members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators?
Do you sustain the other General Authorities and local leaders of the Church?

Maybe he turned them over to Adam at one of those meetings Sister Nelson obliquely referenced?

The prophet does NOT possess all priesthood keys. They are given or delegated to those under the prophet.endlessQuestions wrote: ↑March 8th, 2023, 6:19 am https://www.reddit.com/r/mormon/comment ... w_in_bold/

This is basic stuff here.
For years, you've been asked one question.
Then it changed.
It used to say "possesses".
Now it doesn't.
Basic stuff.

The lower case p, s, and r is very interesting to me. Is it a tell? Most members will never notice this change because the will only ever hear the questions, they won't ever see the changes.endlessQuestions wrote: ↑March 8th, 2023, 6:19 am https://www.reddit.com/r/mormon/comment ... w_in_bold/

Doesn’t matter whether he did or not. All the keys that can be held on earth are held by all those who possess the Fullness of the Priesthood, and there are many such people.

Does Nelson pray when he loses his keys?

Technically all of the 15 possess the keys.

Re: Did Russell M Nelson Give Possession of His Priesthood Keys to Pope Francis?
Then why was the temple recommend question phrased the way it was?
It's hard to know tone on a forum, so please know I'm sincerely asking this. This new puzzle is... well, puzzling, and I don't have any answers. Just seeking insights.

Re: Did Russell M Nelson Give Possession of His Priesthood Keys to Pope Francis?
My point to the Bishop when I talked to him about this was, "I am authorized to drive any motor vehicle my license is good for. But if I don't possess the keys, I'm not really going anywhere, am I?".
Unless I steal the car, that is.

Re: Did Russell M Nelson Give Possession of His Priesthood Keys to Pope Francis?
Yup, this is what I was going to say.
It doesn’t say he’s the only one to possess all the keys because all of the 12 and fp possess all the keys. That’s an important piece to the succession process.

Re: Did Russell M Nelson Give Possession of His Priesthood Keys to Pope Francis?
But that would be hilarious if he gave keys to the pope!
But giving them wouldn’t mean that he no longer possesses them. I don’t think.
But I kinda like this idea. Let’s give the keys to all the Christian religions. It seems like it would be a good thing as far as the restoration and gathering of Israel goes.

Re: Did Russell M Nelson Give Possession of His Priesthood Keys to Pope Francis?
Then why was the question phrased the way it was for all those years?
And what revelation changed that?
And when was it presented to the body of Christ for a ratifying vote?
Come to think of it, when did the body of Christ consent to the use of these temple recommend questions, anyway?
And when did the Lord reveal that they should be the questions asked so that gatekeepers could be placed between us and the House of the Lord?

Re: Did Russell M Nelson Give Possession of His Priesthood Keys to Pope Francis?
Looks like the temple "interview" process was broken from the moment BY got his hands on it:
" In March 1856, a year
after the Endowment House opened, the First Presidency instructed
local leaders in Iron and Washington Counties that candidates for
the endowment
must be those who pray, who pay their tithing from year to year; who live
the lives of saints from day to day; setting good examples before their
neighbors. Men and women, boys and girls over 16 years of age who are
living the lives of saints, believe in the plurality [plural marriage], and do
not speak evil of the authorities of the Church, and possess true integrity
towards their friends."
