Endless Questions Asks The Bishop to Ensure His Stake President Isn't Partaking of the Sacrament Unworthily...

Post by endlessQuestions »

Bishop,

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I am commanded to "not suffer any one knowingly to partake of my flesh and blood unworthily, when ye shall minister it; For whoso eateth and drinketh my flesh and blood unworthily eateth and drinketh damnation to his soul; therefore if ye know that a man is unworthy to eat and drink of my flesh and blood ye shall forbid him." (3 Nephi 18)

<redacted>, as an initiate of Sigma Chi, partook of what they call The Black Supper, a "false sacrament" ceremony, during his indoctrination and initiation (their words, not mine) period.

Here's a description of what takes place:

"Ideally this ceremony should be conducted in a room large enough to
accommodate the entire chapter standing at one end as a group and the
candidates seated at a long table at the other end. The members are to be
dressed in black robes with hoods drawn over their heads."

"The table is covered with a black cloth, and for further effect, the walls
of the room may be also draped in black cloth. Two or three candles
placed on the table provide the only light in the room. Before each candidate is a small glass or goblet of water and a small piece of bread cut in the shape of a square."

They teach the initiates the following blasphemies:

"Jesus was the founder and leader of a brotherhood. He chose different types of men from the common walks of life and pledged them to a lifelong devotion to His Cause. He met them in secret places.

Together they shared certain spiritual truths and practiced noble
virtues. In solemn secrecy Jesus revealed the deepest purposes of his
heart. He outlined a philosophy for a good life and announced the
ideals for a better society. Secret signs, symbols, and solemn ritual
characterized their brotherhood.

(Suitable pause)

Our being here is symbolic of the last meeting Jesus had with His
disciples. He had been their leader and guide. He had been their personal friend and counselor. He had been responsible for their motives and their actions".

To be clear, Jesus did not do ANYTHING in secret. He taught publicly, and he taught privately, but he did NOT teach "in secret".

John 18:19-20 teaches: "The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine. Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing."

So what does <redacted> believe? Sigma Chi "doctrine", or Jesus' words as recorded in the holy scriptures? I think it is imperative that, as his bishop, you find out as quickly as possible.

One of the most beautiful parts of our scripture is the following, which comes from the same passage as above:

"Nevertheless, ye shall not cast him out from among you, but ye shall minister unto him and shall pray for him unto the Father, in my name, and if it so be that he repenteth and is baptized in my name, then shall ye receive him, and shall minister unto him of my flesh and blood."

I do not have any enmity or anger towards President <redacted>, but am deeply concerned for the welfare of his soul. The scripture continues:

"But if he repent not he shall not be numbered among my people, that he may not destroy my people, for behold I know my sheep, and they are numbered. Nevertheless, ye shall not cast him out of your synagogues, or your places of worship, for unto such shall ye continue to minister; for ye know not but what they will return and repent, and come unto me with full purpose of heart, and I shall heal them; and ye shall be the means of bringing salvation unto them. Therefore, keep these sayings which I have commanded you that ye come not under condemnation; for wo unto him whom the Father condemneth."

I refuse to come under condemnation for not pointing out the obvious: <redacted> has engaged in practices and behaviors that run contrary to everything the gospel of Jesus Christ stands for, and as far as I know, has never expressed regret, remorse, or sought to repent of his affiliation with this secret society.

The Black Supper is only one of the many perverted teachings that <redacted> was indoctrinated with (again, THEIR word, not mine), and as I interact with him, I feel that he is still acting in some ways based on that indoctrination. Please set up a time to meet with him as his Bishop and counsel with him, to encourage him to repent, and to not partake of the sacrament unworthily.

We must cast off our cultural conditioning and recognize that right is right, and wrong is wrong, no matter who we are dealing with. If I came to you with this information regarding any person "below" you, you would immediately recognize that action is necessary. Please don't let the indoctrination *you've* been exposed to blind you to the fact that those "above" us need the opportunity to repent of their mistakes as well.

Sincerely,
Justin

No good will come of this.
I'm still waiting for my priesthood leaders to give me any counsel.

No one, in this entire process, has looked at any evidence I've offered.

Or told me I'm committing sin, or transgressing the law.

So until my priesthood leadership provides me with guidance, I'm going to assume I'm doing this right.

Once they offer me counsel, instead of ignoring, dismissing, minimizing, or running away from me, I'll do my best to follow that counsel.

As I always have.

You were a bishop, Robin Hood. What would your counsel be if someone came to you with evidence that the Stake President was potentially partaking of the sacrament unworthily?

I am going to assume that they know you are correct and in a prolonged silence, they hope the issue fades away.

My honest opinion ~ They are all complicit by virtue of their inaction.
