With tensions already rising due to the Chinese navy becoming more aggressive in asserting its territorial claims in the South China Sea, the U.S. Navy seems to have yet another reason to be deeply concerned.

After years of conjecture, details have begun to emerge of a "kill weapon" developed by the Chinese to target and destroy U.S. aircraft carriers.

Yea, I heard that they are stockpiling a huge supply of bottle rockets and roman candles in mass quantities, we should be concerned.

In the last few years both China AND Russia have been building up their conventional and nuclear arsenals.

Time in the military does not necessarily equate with awareness of what any country is up to militarily or otherwise. How many combat vets do you suppose really know even now why they were sent into recent wars, and even certain battles?

I have a good friend who served in the Army (within the last ten years) and he absolutely refuses to acknowledge that China is even the slightest of a threat to the US's "superiority". So like Lund said military service isn't much of an indicator in my book.

Are you referring to the Sunburn missile? Supposedly flies low to the water and fast. It changes direction randomly and quickly to prevent effective countermeasures. Supposedly Iran has a bunch of them, and they're prepared to use them in the Gulf of Hormuz if it comes down to that.

The Sunburn is Russian, but I wouldn't be surprised if Russian did a little knowledge transfer (or China stole it, like they usually do).

I may be wrong, however I thought I heard that China produced Sunburns under contract with Russia. Could have been a different weapon system.

What is the antiship missile they have that has such a high reentry speed that we can't take it out during its reentry phase? Was that supposed to be the Sunburn?
