Reading this scripture today in some of my searching I was struck by the word "constant." I wonder if anyone here has any comments they would like to share about this scripture?

7 Moreover I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he be constant to do my commandments and my judgments, as at this day.

This is King David talking about his son, Solomon.

My mom’s name in Constance and I saw another person named Constance yesterday.

She went by Constance, rather than Connie or Connee.

Learn to Pray Everyday is a song sung by Connee Boswell that played on The Spy FM.

"chazaq": To fasten upon, to seize, be strong, obstinate, to bind, restrain, conquer

Here's a list of the other times the word gets used in the old testament. Pretty interesting.

Can we agree he was not constant?

I think scripture is abundantly clear on that point. He was led astray.

Verse 1-8 is one paragraph, I think verse 6 has the answer to the question you have.

6 And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.
7 Moreover I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he be constant to do my commandments and my judgments, as at this day.

The lord has chosen Solomon to be his son and he will be his father.

We know it’s talking about the house of Judah because of verse 4.

Because of the start of verse 6 “and he said unto me” or in other words, the lord said unto David.

The lord will establish Solomon’s kingdom forever if he be constant.

One way to look at this. Solomon died as an old man, with his kingdom intact. That in itself is a major win for saying those words were fulfilled. The kingdom was taken away into Babylon 350 years later.

Hope this helps.
