Contending with those who defend wickedness

About a month ago I decided to take a break from facebook. I had to go back recently in order to find/purchase certain things on Marketplace and I would occasionally scan posts from various friends. I was intrigued by how much time is spent engaging with people whom they disagree with and I couldn’t help but see the same thing here on the forum and it got me thinking. How do we spend our time? Are we striving to live and follow what the Lord has taught us directly, or do we find ourselves in endless cycles of bickering with others who are content in speaking nonsense?
Below is from my morning study and is what spurred my previous thoughts. I hope to make a shift in where I spend my time and talents.
“And behold, when a man does strive to usurp ought that which has been given from on high, do not give him of your time or your attention. Nay, strive not with him at all, for his argument is wickedness. Wherefore, how shall you properly steward the precious time the Peacemaker has given you in contending with him who shall speak nonsense? For, has the Peacemaker Himself not taught certain things plainly? Then why shall we spend our time justifying His words in repetition?”

The only time I think a conversation of opposing views can happen is when both parties are willing to listen, and if needed, politely disagree. Any time to you place something like "keys and authority" in the mix, you've immediately dropped a Trump Card, and the conversation is over.

Someone tried to pull that junk with me last night.
All you have to do is take the wicked principle they espouse for one subject and apply the same principles to another subject-they will sputter and sputter.

From my continued study this morning. More truth. More promptings. More light.
112) Behold, sit at the feet of Prophets and of teachers and be instructed of them. But do not rely upon them for ought that you think might be important for salvation. Nay, you cannot surrender your personal responsibility in this thing to any man. Shall he declare unto you that you must or you give up your salvation, do but render unto him of your courtesy in return, but not of your confidence. For such a one boasts of private knowledge and seeks to regulate Heaven and the goodness thereof. Behold, a true Prophet shall never place himself an obstacle between the Peacemaker and His children.
Church leaders make of themselves obstacles to salvation. The doctrine of sustaining a man (which means you follow and obey all they say) in order to gain salvation, is damningly false. As stated in the verse above, “you cannot surrender your personal responsibility in this thing to any man.”
Christ wants you to come to Him and to be taught of Him. The shear amount of scripture that encourages us to not trust solely in the arm of flesh is overwhelming. This principle could not be more clear among almost all canon of scripture.

I have a hard time remembering the polite part. We are emotional beings. We are children of heavenly beings. We feel deeply, that’s part of our godly DNA.
