I saw this on FB w/ this caption: "A gift someone was given at a Christmas party last night." Totally given as a legit gift.

I'm not a handwriting expert (well... kind of), but the signature is pretty darn close. The "H" is almost a perfect match to the photo signature.

Edit: after the fact, it became known this was a joke/gag gift and I simply wish to acknowledge I was mistaken on my assumption. I'll be better about making hasty judgement calls in trivial things like this.

The thing that really sets off my red flags is the pose. You'd have to be completely brain dead to sign a picture with you in that pose with that inscription. Like, literally brain dead.
I don't think DHO is brain dead, although his COVID feast picture with his wife shows he might be a bit tone deaf...
EDIT: Additionally, I've been closely watching AI's new capabilities and I think an image like this is well within its reach. Might play around trying to create something similar to validate my hunch at some point.

The person who posted this on FB is the one who is taking the photo. You can see their reflection in the image. The metadata was stripped because that's what FB does when you upload an image. This is an old photo of him btw, these men think this highly of themselves. The signature, though, is really tough to mimic with the gold sharpie pen that was used. Oaks’ pose comes straight out of the Babylon “I’m a power player” symbology. That’s why to me it feels like a troll. The expression on his face is a little disconcerting. It looks a bit like he thinks he's really putting something over on someone. It's hard to hide the heart because it writes itself all over the face.

I’m still concerned that when all is said and done, DHO may turn out to be more of a pawn and a victim than a willing perpetrator in the grand scheme of things.

I feel like I'm trapped in a B-grade scary movie and I can't get out. It's mostly idiots who comically think they're cool and then moments of true horror.
