The next in line to be president is a pawn and a victim? This goes against Isaiah big time.endlessismyname wrote: ↑December 12th, 2022, 12:45 pmWell, we’re working on that, aren’t we?
I’m still concerned that when all is said and done, DHO may turn out to be more of a pawn and a victim than a willing perpetrator in the grand scheme of things.
Everybody gets to judge for themselves, don’t they. Amazing, when you think about it.LDS Physician wrote: ↑December 13th, 2022, 6:52 amThe next in line to be president is a pawn and a victim? I love your attitude and your thoughts ... although I don't think anyone's salvation is part of the equation when it comes to following a man (prophet or not) unless moved on by the Holy Ghost. In that case, that person's salvation is STILL only tied to obedience to the inspiration of the Holy Ghost., not the prophet.endlessismyname wrote: ↑December 13th, 2022, 7:39 amEverybody gets to judge for themselves, don’t they. I, for one, do not wish to judge unrighteously.
I don’t think anyone can say I’ve taken it easy on the leadership of the church. And in many ways, I haven’t even really started yet. But…
I think anytime we jump from an opinion to a conclusion prematurely, we do everyone involved a great disservice. Especially when our salvation is part of the equation, which it clearly is when we’re talking about things like rejecting prophets, severing covenants, etc.
But that’s just me. If people feel like they understand Isaiah well enough to move from an opinion to a conclusion, and they’ve prayed about it and feel like our Master has revealed something to them, I’m not going to stand in their way. That’s between them and our Master.
When I served we deliberately targeted the poorer areas because that was where the more humble, teachable people lived.blitzinstripes wrote: ↑December 13th, 2022, 6:24 am We like to harp on people like Joel Osteen, but the truth is that the LDS preach PLENTY of prosperity gospel. Hell, we even invented our own college fund because we like so much to tie temporal prosperity in with salvation.
My mission president in the 90s told us we needed to baptize less poor people and try to get more wealthy, successful converts. I was pretty sure that was the polar opposite what Christ would have said. But what did I know, just a 19 yr old brainwashed kid working as a door to door salesman of sorts.

Here's the story I laughed at:
"Please Use the Full Name"
This happened a while ago, but I thought I would share.
There is a nice (genuinely pleasant) fellow who I associate with who insists upon using the full name of the Mormon church in our meetings. Because of the nature of our meetings we discuss many different churches. If someone says "LDS" or "Mormon" he corrects them and only uses the full name of the church (including "members of"). At our last meeting I insisted when we talked about the Episcopal church to call it "The Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America" and kept using that name.
My Lutheran and Methodist friends just got a big smile and started doing it, too. The Mormon guy got frustrated when I corrected him two or three times and asked, unironically, if we could just say Episcopal church or Episcopalians because it was annoying to say that long name. A few minutes later he corrected my Lutheran friend to say "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints".
It went completely over his head. It was amazing."
Hahahaha, couldn't be any more Mo than that![]()
I couldn't stop laughing at the guy.... I pictured in my head the one guy that stood up in that young men special fireside and scolded the young men for praying to know whether they should go on a mission, I pictured that guy saying/doing something like the guy in this story.... And just, whoooooosh, right over their heads, they literally cannot see or grasp the point being made. Our salvation is based off our acceptance of Jesus Christ, not a leader of the Mormon Church. I don't recall anywhere that our salvation is at the mercy of accepting or rejecting someone who says they are a prophet.endlessismyname wrote: ↑December 13th, 2022, 7:39 amEverybody gets to judge for themselves, don’t they. The principle of the tithe has become so corrupted w/in the LDS church. Truth mixed with lies.
LOL, he clearly doesn't understand the purpose of tithing and how when it is lived correctly, it naturally brings the blessings it promises. Tithing is the Lord's financial education system and anyone who lives it correctly will, over time, learn to become very wealthy. But not unless it is lived correctly. If you want to give twice the offering, do it with other offerings where the blessings are not tied to doing it correctly, not tithing.Reluctant Watchman wrote: ↑December 12th, 2022, 11:29 am A signed copy from the man himself. Then you didn't do it correctly. Well of course not. but like everything else in THE church, there is a brain washed answer for everything, like you know, "it doesn't mean you will become wealthy in this life" sort of B.S.Seeker144k wrote: ↑December 15th, 2022, 11:04 amThen you didn't do it correctly.
