H R 1388 The GIVE Act A return to fascism?

Ok I've been hearing about this for about two weeks now and after researching this are following parts of the bill that concerned me:

Title VI, Subsection 6104, part b, number 6 says:

(6) Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed, and how such a requirement could be implemented in a manner that would strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges by bringing together people from diverse economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.

SEC. 125. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.


`(a) Prohibited Activities- A participant in an approved national service position under this subtitle may not engage in the following activities:


`(1) Attempting to influence legislation.



`(2) Organizing or engaging in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes.


`(3) Assisting, promoting, or deterring union organizing.


`(4) Impairing existing contracts for services or collective bargaining agreements.

`(5) Engaging in partisan political activities, or other activities designed to influence the outcome of an election to any public office.

`(6) Participating in, or endorsing, events or activities that are likely to include advocacy for or against political parties, political platforms, political candidates, proposed legislation, or elected officials.

`(7) Engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.

which means missions are out of the question and if they do make it mandatory is a scary prospect.

Is this the act supported by Orrin Hatch and Ted Kennedy jointly? I've been hearing about that -- and that their act passed Today.

Is this the same act? My grown children would like to know, and me!

The more offensive video is “ HR 1388 PASSES/PASSED Senate!!!! Give Act” So I am not condoning this or advising this one to be watched. But there is some data on the time line that may be of use. So beware it is not LDS standards in some videos. Others are fine, I have not gone through the whole time line to warn you of others that are offensive.

The H R 1388 and the "Service for all ages Act" are one and the same:

Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) applauded the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee for incorporating large parts of his “Service for All Ages” initiative into the Serve America Act, which passed the Committee today. The initiative is a group of four bills that will expand and strengthen opportunities for Americans of all ages to serve their communities. Dodd, who is a senior member of the HELP Committee, was joined by Senator Thad Cochran (R-MS) and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) in introducing the “Service for All Ages” initiative last month.


This is really bad, the more I read the more it is really scary. This very well may elimiate missions. They said it was voluntary...but the wording sounds manditory.
