Heber C. Kimball himself was “struck with great force by some invisible power; and fell senseless on the floor.”

More information on how Satan sought to stop the very fruitful work in Great Britain as some of the Apostles fulfilled their 1837 mission. Here is a sample.
Most Latter-day Saints who are familiar with this experience will know the latest account published in Orson F. Whitney’s Life of Heber C. Kimball in 1888. According to that account, on June 30, 1837, Apostles Heber C. Kimball and Orson Hyde were awakened when Isaac Russell charged into their room shouting, “I want you should get up and pray for me that I may be delivered from the evil spirits that are tormenting me to such a degree that I feel I cannot live long, unless I obtain relief.” The two laid their hands on his head to give him a blessing, when Heber C. Kimball himself was “struck with great force by some invisible power; and fell senseless on the floor.” Hyde and Willard Richards then laid their hands on Heber’s head, and he was revived enough to kneel for a prayer and then moved to the bed. It was then that both Kimball and Hyde began to witness that “a vision was opened to our minds, and we could distinctly see the evil spirits, who foamed and gnashed their teeth at us.” The experience was timed by Willard Richards, who noted that they were invision for ninety minutes.https://rsc.byu.edu/sites/default/files ... _World.pdf

As has been said previously, if you put all the current GA's in a room, they wouldn't amount to a prophet's bootlace.

I've been there too.
A number of years ago it was all boarded up and quite spooky looking. The YM I was taking on a church history tour were fascinated. I told them the place is still so haunted by the evil spirits that it had to be abandoned and boarded up.
This wasn't true of course, but it captured their attention.
The next time I went it was a Santander Bank.

It must have been somewhere else you went the second time, because there’s no Santander Bank there. There’s one just down the road though.

It’s still boarded up and spooky looking.

What year did you see a Santander Bank?

“We saw devils coming in legions,” Heber related. “They came towards us like armies rushing to battle. They appeared to be men of full stature, possessing every form and feature of men in the flesh, who were angry and desperate; and I shall never forget the vindictive malignity depicted in their countenances as they looked me in the eye. . . . We distinctly heard those spirits talk and express their wrath and hellish designs against us. However, the Lord delivered us from them, and blessed us exceedingly that day.” Whitney, Life of Heber C. Kimball, 130–31.
