lol.
A man’s choice to deposit his DNA inside the body of a woman who does not wish to be pregnant is not only irresponsible but arguably criminal.
so.....how would a man know?

The law must become a better schoolmaster to men in order to stanch the misery and woe created when men deposit their DNA where their DNA is not wanted.
what would this law she's proposing look like, exactly? "delayed rape laws"?

I don't know how you Utahns can stand the deserted news. maybe you should go back to burning printing presses:

I couldn’t read it either. It’s shameful that the LDS Church owns this piece of garbage. People should save paper copies for the next TP shortage. Crap meet crap.

If you haven't been paying attention to the YSA dating scene, it's horrific, particularly around the Wasatch front... Women report that they are commonly asked, 'how Mormon are you' because all these RM's want is some kind of sex - no commitment, no intention to date, no intention to marry. The Mutual app is basically a 'hook-up' app. The entire system is dysfunctional because of porn, it's killing our Men!

I'm at the point now that I've basically given up getting married and resigned to the fact that it will hopefully happen sometime in the eternities.

What I want to know is what in the hell is the point of choking out your sexual partner? Is there some sexual high that comes from it? I've heard of kids choking themselves out (hanging a rope around their neck) while sucking on keyboard cleaning aerosol cans... and some of them passed out and actually hung themselves.

Young Utah Mormons are weird. Sorry, but the more I read about living there, the further away I want to be away from there. Too much California coming in apparently.

What's sad is that women hold all the cards with this. If they refused to give in and give these worthless guys what they want (and most of them offer nothing in return --- it's really a matter of giving away very valuable and precious things for nothing in return).

There are economic principles at play. As men continue to have less and less of a presence in post-high school education and work (making women comprise more and more of the "market share" --- I think it's something like a 65%-35% disparity in colleges), women are settling for absolute jokes of specimens of men. It's definitely a "seller's market" from the perspective of the men --- they get sex without having to provide, excel, or really even give any benefits at all just through the sheer imbalance of numbers. If women put their foot down and insisted on men who act and treat them how they should be treated, it would bring about a revolution. But, too many give these worthless men what they want for nothing in return.

It's a satanic perversion. Any involvement from Mormons with this is partaking of "the blood and sins of this generation."

If that 40% figure is in any way accurate, that is especially terrifying when it involves people who have (or have access to) pearls of great price.

I think we need to consider.

That the paper is actually reflecting the church leaders viewpoints.

If so.

Mindboggeling.

Cool how in 30 years we went from Songs of Solomon being biblical trash to reading about the latest sexual fantasies in the Church newspaper!

Of course, with the primary driver for selecting a mate gone for women (i.e. when I'm vulnerable b/c I'm pregnant is this dude going to be able to protect/provide for me when I'm vulnerable), the other drivers for selecting a mate now come out more strongly.

That driver is looks and women are WAY, WAY more selective on physical looks than men are, so you have a massive imbalance in the market.

Women do not need to select men on the basis of is ability to be a stable provider, they are selecting based on looks. Women are way more selective on looks than men are.

Combine the above with the following: while the average IQ of men is slightly higher than the average IQ of women, the bell curve for men is much flatter and has longer tails. In other words, the smartest AND dumbest people on the planet are men.

That means that long-term relationships between men and women are also at a severe imbalance. It's a total mess.

In summary, the solution is even less accountability for women.

I didn't think that could be possible, but I hadn't considered that transferring one's personal accountability (as an "adult" human with allegedly functional mental faculties) onto someone else would've been an option. I suppose I just underestimated the depths of self-absorption that one could descend into.

Dating culture and society in general has been ruined. There are healthy relationships that bloom but that is the exception, not the rule. Dating scenes completely detached from Mormonism lament on the issues you're bringing up here (hook-up culture). Complete access to porn and intercourse on demand has ruined the vineyard. Men are taking longer to engage in sexual relations, less men are engaging in sexual relations. Women are racking up numbers. "Alpha males" eat while they and their women lose their souls and the men who aren't partaking become bitter and experience arrested development and see disappointment in most women rather than inspiration. It's an awful mess. Love is in clear decline. Healthy, happy marriages are in clear decline. Look everywhere and you see people observing the social phenomenon of all this. I had a rough draft thread I was working on centered on this topic that I was leaning towards not posting but after reading your post and some other posts in this thread, maybe I will post it.

This is a lesson for society. Using your agency to embrace a life of sexual freedom has wrought a miserable society where finding enduring love, even just healthy connections with the opposite gender, seems a futile effort. Truly God has spoken truth to us on the importance of chastity.

Single here as well. To be honest, if love happens for you (and for me) after this life, it's probably better than getting married tomorrow. Not that that couldn't happen for you, but we live in a sick society that produces bad fruit. We will all exist in a better world eventually. Whether that better world happens in our lifetimes or in the eternities, it will surely come and it will surely provide better quality love in greater abundance.

I don't blame any young man these days for being leery about entering into a binding marriage contract where he typically stands to lose so much more for the dissolution of said contract, even if he had no part in breaking it.

I personally know two men whose wives cheated on them, then divorced them, and they still had to pay alimony and child support because both wives got custody of their kids. One man has remarried, but chose a partner who was already supporting herself and was willing to enter into a pre-nuptial. The other is still "looking" and not in a hurry. He suffered quite a bit and has significant trust issues now, but was eventually able to gain custody of the kids (to the kids' relief) by eventually proving substance abuse (opioids) on the part of the wife.

There are still some amazing women in the US, but it seems they're predominately found in certain types of communities/cultures within the US. If you were just rolling the dice, I think American men could have much better luck with non-american women with more traditional marriage values. But then, I know a guy that married a woman from an Eastern European country. Brought her back here and after a couple years, she fell right in line with their very affluent society/circle of friends. They've adopted two children from trendy foreign locales and she now has no desire to have any of her own (maintain body image, etc). She had put forth a desire for a traditional marriage, wanted to bear children, etc, but it only took 2-3 years for her to want what all the women around her wanted.

Porn is destroying men, women, boys, and girls. I see how often it is a problem with both genders.

I think the solution is accountability from both men AND women. The way to avoid an unwanted pregnancy has always been to abstain from sex. That takes two, excepting rape.

Agreed. However, the article's position is that the accountability solely rests with the male. Or from the way they posit, that any accountability inherent with the female half, is also the male's accountability. Very odd, indeed.

Yeah I obviously think the opinion article takes it too far, from one end of the pendulum to the other.

My opinion is that the pendulum should rest in the middle on this one.
