How would you feel?

Just an observation in seeing some post, we are told to seek after good things, If someone pointed out all the things that members of the Church have done wrong or contrary to the Gospel, How would you feel? Pointing out the Negativity on one side is wrong and inaccurate and contrary to the teachings of the Gospel, There is an article of faith that covers this. Such attitude and hatred toward one group is the same as a Nazi or facist singling out a group of people and I will not accept it as O.K. or tolerable. I can find many examples of good upstanding Lawenforcement doing a job that reflects the integrity of good honest men, Many I know are Good faithful members of the church and I am proud to call them friend. Just a note the majority here are not cop haters, Hate has no place on this forum. If anyone post an attitude such I would ask that we not respond or view such a falsehood being projected to a group as a whole that has been reflected by our media or individuals.

Will, thank you for that reminder. Sometimes our posts do get a little heated and are not in the best spirit. Mea culpa.

Thanks Will for the reminder. There is no excuse for Latter-Day Saints to be prejudiced, intolerant nor negative in our discussions. I have found that debate does get a little ‘heated’ at times because paradigms get challenged and passions questioned. To me that is when we should be at our best behavior. I try and visualize the person next to me and not say anything that I wouldn’t in person. Sometime we get too short or strong in our language either from laziness or just down right meanness. It helps me to go over my draft several times to make sure I am clear and can not be misinterpreted. The little faces help to get your words across in the proper manner because communications is 70% intonation and body language.

Will asked "If someone pointed out all the things that members of the Church have done wrong or contrary to the Gospel, How would you feel?" About the same as when, during the 12 years I lived and worked in Europe, locals pointed out to me things that Americans had done that hurt or offended them. Google "Operation Keelhaul" for an example you might not have known about.
As for things members of the Church have done wrong or contrary to the Gospel, there comes a time when they need to be pointed out. It seems that generally LDSs are not a particularly obedient people.
Joseph Smith was accepted as a true prophet by nearly all LDSs in his time. Yet his revealing of the principle of plural marriage caused many to apostatize.
Then the reverse happened when President Woodruff declared the discontinuance of plural marriage. Some members could not accept that, and some still cannot even in our time, as the media has been reminding us lately.
I understand that back when President Grant spoke out againt old age assistance , some members fiercely opposed him, and suggested that he stick to religious issues.
The constitutional amendment to repeal prohibition would not have passed if more voters in Utah alone had heeded the prophet's call to oppose the 21st Amendment.
President Kimball's plea for mothers to stay in the home and raise their children was ignored by many, who seemed to think he did not understand the pressing needs for money in raising a family.
I well remember the varied reactions in Utah when church members were told not to use food stamps, and instead rely on Church assistance if needed. Yet some LDSs did use them, according to an acquaintance of mine who worked at the food stamp office in Provo.
Many members patronized supermarkets and other stores when they began opening on Sundays.
How many members concerned themselves with what Presidents McKay, Clark, and Benson said to us about the importance to study and support U.S. Constitution, or heeded his warning about the secret combination seeking to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries. I have studied the voting record of some LDS congressmen, and compared my observations with Ezra Taft Benson’s talk “The Proper Role of Government, and wonder if they have ever even read the Constitution. And I wonder what the Lord thinks of LDS voters who, hopefully in ignorance, accept and even support their legislators and other elected officials in their violations of constitutional principles.
How many members strive to obey all of the admonitons, advisories, and commandments given us in the scriptures without waiting for the Prophet to tell us which commandments we should be following and ignoring the rest.?
How many otherwise active LDSs are making even 1/2 an effort to comply with the family history 5 generation program ?
I wonder how the Lord views members participating in Sabbath Day sports and other kinds of performances, either as participants or as spectators ?
So I sure hope we are all doing our best to follow the Prophet’s admonitions of preparedness and food storage.
