Recommendations for a greenhouse dehumidifier?
I just finished my greenhouse and bought a small device that tracks temp, humidity, and dew point. One additional metric is VPD, Vapor Pressure Deficit. I had no idea what VPD was, so I started researching. In a nutshell, VPD helps you define ideal growing conditions when balancing temperature and humidity in the air. The hotter the temp, the higher humidity you need. The lower the temperature, the less humidity is need.
So here’s my question, I’m looking for a dehumidifier that has the ability to change how much water is in the air (humidity) based on the ambient temperature. Has anyone been down this road before and do you have any suggestions?

Hmm… here’s something interesting. I think I need to go down the road of a temp/humidity thermostat:

In Saipan, my AC dehumidified which made my dogs and people feel cooler.
Humidity is a vapor pressure, so must maintain excellent air seals, for it to work well.

Re: Recommendations for a greenhouse dehumidifier?
I didn't even know a greenhouse needed a dehumidifier!
I had a friend who had a greenhouse, and it was set up so that when it reached a certain temperature, a fan would turn on that would blow the extra heat out of the greenhouse. Maybe deserts are too dry to use a dehumidifier?

Re: Recommendations for a greenhouse dehumidifier?
I have two vents (one on each end) that has a piston filled with bee’s wax. When the temp rises too hot it melts the wax and the piston opens the vents. When the temp cools is closes the vents. A fan could be added and hooked up to a thermostat. Overheating is probably the biggest danger in the desert growing areas. I know a guy who burned about a dozen fruit trees last year because the temp rose too quickly and he didn’t have a vent/fan installed.Silver Pie wrote: ↑September 18th, 2022, 3:26 pm I didn't even know a greenhouse needed a dehumidifier!

As far as humidity, at night the humidity increases as the due point drops. Cold wet plants are what the dehumidifier is for. And it can help reduce some of the mold that can start to grow. Instead of the high and low VPD swings you want to smooth out the curve.
In the photo below is just the past two days where I’ve had the sensor. The ideal VPD is around .5 - .6. Earlier today is when I went out and sprayed water all over the ground and walk areas to add more moisture and the VPD dropped back down into an ideal range. But once the water evaporated it shot back up. I bought two strips of greenhouse misters to help add moisture during the day.

I may just try putting the dehumidifier on a timer and let it run from sun down to sun up.

I've used a number of Inkbird equipment for my needs (chickens) successfully for several years..
Greenhouses are certainly tricky...why Coleman's caterpillar idea was so great...keep moving areas to let sun kill mold...and clear the ground for the next cycle with the greenhouse over it...

Geothermal is where it's at...I haven't had the resources yet to properly build one though...

I’m quite familiar with David’s channel. I’ve actually met him a few times. Good guy. He holds the same views as a few people here on the forum. He holds to the BoM and believes “the church” is true. He also has bought into the legalese terminology of the church lawyers. “This is a literal godsend” “We speak for God” psssttt but please go ahead and get your own revelation. We have to cover our assets.

I think he may have been released from that calling. I thought he was the stake emergency prep specialist. He may have mentioned that on one of his recent videos.

I use dew-point as my prime indicator here in NW Missouri, trying to keep my basements dry. Dewpoint information is readily available.
I use dehumidifiers, but I'm looking for a passive dehumidifier.... a means to dehumidify without electricity.

Re: Recommendations for a greenhouse dehumidifier?
Here’s one video he did when the infamous FP letter came out. He talks about filling out a feedback page on the church website. “They do want to hear from you.” No, no they don’t. The church has done nothing to address the concerns of the saints. If anything, they’ve doubled and tripled down on their position.
Here’s a follow up video he did. He lists out what the FP letter “did not say.” But he is actually wrong. I know people who were shunned and had temple recommends taken away when they said, “No, I don’t sustain these men in what they are doing.” My own church participation was effected. I was released from my calling because I wouldn’t “sustain” these men. David goes on to say that the letter didn’t pressure local leaders to pressure you into taking the jab. But that is false. Many of them did. I was called to repentance three times by my stake president for questioning the jab and what the brethren said.
He then goes on to share his experience of knowing the BoM to be true, but falls to the fame fallacy that since the book is true, that the “church” is true.
I’m sorry, but so many members are blind today. What David failed to mention is what the letter did say. And what they DID say was damning. Members are great at turning a blind eye to what the church actually says. We all do this to some degree.

My little sensor has temp, humidity, dew point, and VPD tracking. I’ll have to learn a bit more about dew point and how that impacts plant growth.

For example in Blackfoot unvaxxed were asked to stay home and not come to church for quite some time…huge pressure upon them from ecclesiastical leaders up to area authority. When push came to shove area authority was released. But not before much damage and trial of faith.
Yet up the road a few miles entirely different attitudes existed. In some areas masks were worn by the minority vs the majority.
Top church leadership were stuck in the government/public light…leaving it open for broad interpretation beneath them…but as time has progressed and the limelight is fading…a few of those who pushed it too far have been quietly removed…
My opinion and experience for whatever it’s worth…the one thing I positively know is the work of God is real and that it continues in temples, meetinghouses, homes, and streets. I’ve gone disgruntled and agitated over masks and other covid nonsense to the temple wholly unprepared and unreceptive…yet in much mercy had my heart touched, my spirit warmed..and my testimony strengthened…and a knowledge that as sure as I exist…the work is real and continues…despite the politics and nonsense.
And I’ve watched the gospel continue to change lives for the better…and I’ve watched those who left turn bitter with an impact on life and families. fwiw

There is a large commercial greenhouse in Garden City, Idaho, called Edward's Greenhouse/Nursery I think. I visited a few weeks ago and they told me they are the oldest Geothermal Greenhouse in the country. Just found it interesting.

IMO top leadership was not stuck in gov. light. Scriptural precedent is quite clear how the Lord's true servants call out wickedness and unrighteous dominion. And no, that letter did not leave things up to broad interpretation. You knew exactly what you needed to do. Also, the only people I know who have been "removed" were those who didn't go along with the paranoia.Jason wrote: ↑September 20th, 2022, 7:26 am

I do believe the work of God continues. But what I've come to realize is that the culture of the church doesn't want you to ask questions, especially when questioning "the Lord's anointed." Many saints do not understand their history or the scriptures. We just go along with the flow and our "feelings", instead of our heart AND mind.
FWIW, I have seen people become bitter because of the lies of church leaders. They throw out religion altogether. In my case, I have come to know Christ and his gospel in far greater abundance. The reason I have distanced my self from the church is that the church has distanced itself from Christ's doctrine. When church leaders teach false doctrines that contradict the scriptures, particularly the words of Christ, I cannot in good conscience stay with that organization. I have felt far greater peace. In fact, the reason I speak up about the corruption in the church is I care about my friends and family. I care that they are being spiritually abused by church leaders. I care that they are being taken advantage of.

Speaking of history and scriptures...how do you utilize a work product from someone while discounting their other work products?
Any organization outside the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints that comes even remotely close to fulfilling all of the prophecies...stone cut out of the mountains...Lord's house established in the mountains...and on and on and on...
Penchant for throwing the baby out with the bathwater?
