Shalom!

My name is Yered, and I am an ordained rabbi who lives in Alaska. I love lively (respectful) and heartfelt theological discussions and meeting interesting people, so here I am. I look forward to getting to know all of you. May the Holy One bless and keep you.

Can I be reduced to bullet points? Perhaps...let us give it a try.

1. I am not fond of contractions.
2. I am a connoisseur of Oreos.
3. I am never sarcastic.
4. I am a father.
5. I am an educator.
6. I am not kind when I have to share sushi with others.
7. I am a collector of antiquity.
8. I never tire of the rain.
9. I am a moose and caribou hunter.
10. I am a mycologist by choice.
11. I do not do favorites.
12. I have been to Utah.
13. I am not here to contend, convert, or change anyone's mind about anything. I barely keep my own mind in check.

There are a few.

Welcome! I’m fond of Sitka. Would love to hear your thoughts on Isaiah. Have you heard about/read much from Avraham Gileadi?

Are you a Native? I understand that if you are , you don't have to enter a draw for moose tag?
Have you been on a moose hunt this season?

"A little bit different" is my cup of tea, as it were.

Well...I prefer coffee, but that does not pay homage to the saying.

Thank you, friend, for that kind welcome.

Most readily, my thoughts are that Isaiah never visited Sitka. ;)

I would love to have a discussion on Isaiah. Anything in particular, my friend? I will check out the site you mention after work today. Thank you again for saying hello!

I am not an Alaskan Native, no. As such, no seal harvesting for me, either. I have actually been hunting all this week. The regular moose season does not end until the 26th of this month, if I recall correctly. As a resident of the state, we can obtain a regular moose tag with a hunting license. The tag is free; the license is $45.00 this year. For a bull, anyway. Nice to meet you!

Alright a rabbi! Welcome welcome welcome! Someone to ask questions to with a different point of view. So far we have to go to synagogue to ask questions from the rabbi there and since it is two hours away we don't go often. My brother and I have begun studying Tanakh for the last year. It began maybe 5 years ago studying Isaiah. We are LDS and therefore believe in Christ. We are following several from Alph Beta to First fruits. Lots of thoughts on the diversity. Nevertheless the education has been immense. Thanks for joining.

Rainy. Mid 50s this week. No snow yet. Well....it snowed about 3 inches at Denali about 3 or 4 weeks ago, but it melted. It has been soggy hunting moose this year. My wife joked that she is glad it only rained twice this summer...once for 27 days and once for 35. :)

Not where we are. I am thinking we will get some (extra) rain. Those along the west coast...Nome...are going to get some weather for sure. The biggest concern will be for hunters in that area who do not have cell service. We live in south central, so kind of out of the direct path.

Shabbat Shalom!
Though I worship on Sunday, the Lord asked me to keep His Celestial Sabbath to prepare for Zion when we’ll be grafted back together as Zenos of old spake of.
Isaiah 66:23
“And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD” Isaiah 66:23.
