this subject has made me curious of the actual structure of the church and how it ties in with the corporation. Since the corporation or one of it's sub corporations receives the money from the members under the 501c3 umbrella, there must needs be a direct link of everything.HVDC wrote: ↑September 17th, 2022, 8:02 pmI understand this particular legal arrangement only recognizes President Nelson as the sole member of the church.FrankOne wrote: ↑September 17th, 2022, 3:23 pmThe government and the IRS would differ with you on that subject. You are technically correct in a sense, but the members of the corporation are the members of the church. The body of the corporation is the body of the church.Obeone wrote: ↑September 17th, 2022, 3:01 pmIt says corporation OF the president. So the Church is not the corporation.HereWeGo wrote: ↑September 17th, 2022, 1:03 pm
The Church is a corporation: CORPORATION OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS. https://opencorporates.com/companies/us_ut/555534-0145
The incorporation papers designate who the next prophet will be--the next senior apostle.
How can a corporation be true?
The rest of us are not shareholders, I.e. members.

I can now see that I'm wrong about the church members being actual members of any of the corporations. I would imagine a reading of the charter and bylaws of each corporation would be fascinating if not disturbing. There would have to be a mention of the members tithes and donations as well as legal definitions for "member".
