You're right, but our society has become so fractious and distrustful of others that it will take some work........maybe from The Lord, in the form of the suffering we've all heard may be ahead of us. On my street, there are a lot of inactive and non-members as well as the more active sort. Being of the "simple-minded" kind in the view of some folks, I find myself gravitating toward many people who have had peoblems with The Church for whatever reason, and trying to befriend them as neighbors. It may get easier with current political and social trends being as they are, and when more people see themselves in the same boat as others it might help bring down some of the barriers and former resentments.
I've seen a great change over the decades in how The Church and most of its members interact with those not of our faith, and that sets a good foundation for cooperation. It's been a long time since I've encountered anybody itching for a "Bible bash" with the Jay-Dubs or the Baptists. I think this could be due to many of the older generations having passed-on, who went through such conflict and were the butt of non-member comments for so long.
The short months ahead will likely show whether we can draw together as "Americans" and not keep being pushed-apart by what may (or may not in fact) have been done to somebody's long-dead ancestors from generations ago, or whether we'll ride the pity train to a vengeful end.

Re: Unification
If I recall right, our ancestors, the Israelites were in bondage for 400 years or so. I guess we have a right to complain more than others.not keep being pushed-apart by what may (or may not in fact) have been done to somebody's long-dead ancestors from generations ago

You have a point. However, I like to think the same way as one of my favorite movie characters when someone told him: "Well I guess they had it coming"..........NoGreaterLove wrote:If I recall right, our ancestors, the Israelites were in bondage for 400 years or so. My own feeling is that "We ALL got it coming". Nobody over 8 is completely innocent and nobody will leave this life without scars. Let's all just move-on like big American boys and girls and get on with life, liberty and the pursuit...........

Re: Unification
Suffering brings unity. Mourn with those that mourn, succor those that need succor, etc..

Re: Unification
Gman007, some will work together of their own accord, but I fear many will join together because it will be the only way to survive. So I think you're right. This will be our last best hope until the Lord intervenes on our behalf. But I think the Lord isn't going to intervene until the last possible moment....a great test for us, I believe.or maybe it will get so bad we will beg for anyone to guard our back and guard theirs in return???
