I did not "figure" this out, but I heard this from an instructor many years ago and figured I would share it. Not bragging but I have taken it further and am a little better at it than him. People are martyrs by nature and will do far more for others than they will do for themselves (I am learning that is not always true). But for the most part people are willing to sacrifice for others. To a fault I might add. I have neglected this for a long time and feel compelled to find even more shortcuts and study this more. I want to be able to unlock this quickly in people....Controled that is.
It is a simple exercise. Pretend that you are with someone that you care deeply about. The weaker the person the better. Children and old people are the best. To some of you spouces are just as suitable. In this situation that you are with somone that you personally know get graphic and figure the worst. That includes Rape, murder, and torture will happen to them and you are there to witness and the only one that can do something about it. It is an exercise of meditation (I am good at it). Most everyone can do this though. It is a long thought that can be applied to any situation.
What would you do for a loved one just to get them away from that?......Everything of course. You would forfeit your life in such a situation. You would be uncaring to personal pain. Who does want to be responcable for not responding to the welfare of a weak child and letting the wolves drag it away? It would haunt you all your life on the what if?
Let us go with that exercise. Your child/relative/friend and you are surrounded by blood thursty thugs that only want that child/others to do unspeakable things to. Think about everything. The clothes you are waring, what is the temperature, the wind, the smell, where you are at, what do you see. Are there hills? Is it your front yard? It is real.
I could go further with it, but it is much better in person and have no patience with a computer forum. You have to be able to put yourself in a different place. Much easier in person, but anyone with half a brain can figure what I am getting at.
It is way beyond any training I ever got as far as unlocking it. The training and muscle memory is what controls it though.
That is about as far as I am willing to take it for unlocking the inner warrior that is in all of us. A book can be written about it.
