He knows how to stick the knife in.I am not at all judging those who have a villa in Miami or the French Riviera, who cannot do without foie gras, oysters or so-called gender freedoms.

Mate, I'm well aware of these things.Artaxerxes wrote: ↑March 18th, 2022, 12:24 pmTo his girlfriend (https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/in ... apartment/), his daughter (https://www.cityam.com/angry-activists- ... -refugees/), and his friends (https://www.news.com.au/world/europe/vl ... 56d129be6d)?
No. He's playing you.
The oligarchs who live abroad do support Putin because he keeps them wealthy, not because they think he's good for Russia. Roman Abramovich is one of the main people who made Putin president.Niemand wrote: ↑March 18th, 2022, 1:01 pmMate, I'm well aware of these things.Artaxerxes wrote: ↑March 18th, 2022, 12:24 pmTo his girlfriend (https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/in ... apartment/), his daughter (https://www.cityam.com/angry-activists- ... -refugees/), and his friends (https://www.news.com.au/world/europe/vl ... 56d129be6d)?

The difference in the west is the guys with Italian villas etc use front men from multiple parties to forward their agenda. In Canada, Turdeau, Freeland and the leaders of the NDP and Conservatives have all been brainwashed by trained by the billionaires who run Davos.
There is also a massive level of hypocrisy regarding Russian expatriates. We're told the Russian people oppose Putin, so we must impose sanctions on them, and freeze their bank accounts if living abroad. Bit of doublethink. It's never dawned on some people that some Russians may be living abroad because they don't like Putin, but won't state so openly because they may have family back in Russia. But hey, let's keep Russian cats out of international competitions and ban Tchaikovsky.
Sanctions are an attack on ordinary Russian people. You've just mentioned Putin's wealth. Do you think they're going to affect him and the oligarchs personally?
There are plenty of Russians living abroad. Some of them support Putin and some do not. It is that simple. That includes the oligarchs - some back him, some don't. He has imprisoned some of them, and others live abroad for to get away from him (they don't upset him there and he doesn't upset them... if they stay out of politics)Artaxerxes wrote: ↑March 18th, 2022, 2:39 pmThe oligarchs who live abroad do support Putin because he keeps them wealthy, not because they think he's good for Russia. The sanctions are hitting the oligarchs. That's why they're crying to press right now (and trying to sell their football teams before they get taken away).
