Global food prices soared to a new record high in February, led by a massive jump in vegetable oil and dairy prices as well as higher costs for grains, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The move higher in food prices comes as the Russian invasion of Ukraine sent commodity markets into disarray, which indicates prices could continue to surge and may trigger another 'Arab Spring'.

The move higher in food prices comes as the Russian invasion of Ukraine sent commodity markets into disarray, which indicates prices could continue to surge and may trigger another 'Arab Spring'.

I like making specific predictions because that's the surest way they won't come true.
I believe COVID was intended to give authorities the ability to limit who can buy and sell by a passport. It didn't quite work, so I think they are going with plan B: a cyber attack. They will be quick on the draw with their response. Show them a proof of vaccination or another ID like passport or drivers license and they will mark your name down and your ID and then you will get your rations. I think they'll include the proof of vaccination in a way you can sometimes double dip to throw those people a bone.

They will keep this system going with intermittent social conditioning internet outages. They will come up with their aptly-described final solution to the cyber attack which will be kicking everyone off the internet and then whitelisting some parts on at a time. Those will of course be propaganda sites. And they will continue to have a food shortage and reports of hoarding and so they will continue to require IDs, only they will move to ration IDs which will have bonuses over other IDs. At that point, I don't really know how they will go, but that system will have the kinks worked out either for then or for later.

Nah, they won’t kick everyone off the internet. The internet gives far too much of an advantage to bigger corporations that the politicians support, and vice versa, not to mention the best way to give propaganda to the masses. I could see them banning specific “thought criminals” off the internet for acting inappropriately online at least by the credit card number or e-mail address, because that would be some minority that wouldn’t be a loss anyways, compared to all the people who buy online.

The internet is a joke, the fact is that duplicating digital is done a whole lot and people regularly get around being blocked by a website by using a new email address. As an accountant, and with corporate hacks being something problematic for corporations and regular people, primarily by fishing scams, I have jokingly called the internet “The Second Southern United States Border”. People get around YouTube, Twitter, or Facebook blocks possibly easier than you might suspect, or in most cases wait a day without going on again to get it all back. It’s estimated that Billions in counterfeited, or pirated media ranging from music, to videos, to video games gets copied and distributed. Meanwhile we have a series of local, State, and Federal governments under which most of the United States population lives under which are decaying in their enforcement of the law. Will there be a few scapegoated thought criminals? Sure, but the majority of the masses will have the internet given to them to keep bombarding them with the corporate messages while letting tha massive lawlessness and failure to enforce that is happening, to continue happening.

They want people accessing the internet. What they don't want is people accessing stuff they don't like on the internet. That's the stuff they'd go after. They'll whitelist banks and cnn and photo sites and so forth, but they may not whitelist something like LDS Freedom Forum or AR15.com

Russia is a huge producer of fertilizer, and the inputs that create fertilizer. I don't know how long before that impacts harvests, but this is essentially the "supply chain" crisis of food.
