If that happened in the USA, how would anyone pay their bills or buy food? Debit cards are often connected to one or the other as well. So many places don't even take cash now.
This seems to be a variation of Canada's freezing bank accounts. Just the PTB testing out new options. It will only hurt the everyday citizens, not Putin.

Re: Visa and Mastercard suspending business in Russia
So as I read the fine print it says that cards issued inside Russia will not work outside Russia...ok well most Russians won't care about that as they are inside Russia and can't get out..and then it says that visas originated outside Russia will not work Inside Russia...ok well how many Russians will this effect? The average Russian probably has a card that originates in country so no effect..and the rich Russian which their are a few, will have cards originating in Russia for Russian use and other cards originating outside Russia for outside use....so if this is not correct please read the fine print and advise...maybe I'm wrong but this is virtue signaling at best by a company who is working in tandem with the biden regime to blow smoke everywhere.......

Reading what Visa and Master Card's policies are, they are the following:JuneBug12000 wrote: ↑March 5th, 2022, 11:15 pm https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/vis ... -in-russia

Any card that is issued in Russia will no longer function outside of Russia.
Any card issued outside Russia will not work within Russia.
Which, essentially, is a result of the world cutting off Russia from SWIFT.

So basically they can still use their cards and it's just going to be a little inconvenient if they need a different in country issued card...oh ok....that's super painful...right?Subcomandante wrote: ↑March 5th, 2022, 11:35 pmReading what Visa and Master Card's policies are, they are the following:JuneBug12000 wrote: ↑March 5th, 2022, 11:15 pm https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/vis ... -in-russia

They will find themselves unable to use their cards, unless they got an account in a Georgian or Finnish bank

Re: Visa and Mastercard suspending business in Russia
So a few citizen students may find themselves in a pickle but I'm sure it will all be worked out for them....just change banks or country or origin.....why are they fleeing? Seems odd a Russian student would be allowed to flee legally....so are they doing this illegally? When my son was on a mission in Mexico we used bank of America to get money to him as they have branches here and in Mexico.....it took us a month to sort that out and get him access to the new bank account we set up here that worked there...I'm sure there are many loop holes and ways around this....it is blowing smoke by Visa..cuz it implies they are cutting Russian people off when they really are not.Subcomandante wrote: ↑March 5th, 2022, 11:45 pmfarmerchick wrote: ↑March 5th, 2022, 11:41 pmI have a couple of Russian students fleeing to Georgia and Finland, respectively.Subcomandante wrote: ↑March 5th, 2022, 11:35 pmReading what Visa and Master Card's policies are, they are the following:JuneBug12000 wrote: ↑March 5th, 2022, 11:15 pm https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/vis ... -in-russia
