Either poor kids ...literally no money. Or conscripted. Same as Ukraine. Same as US. Same as every country.

Old rich men send young poor men to die. The old farts us patriotism and lies to turn the young mans hunger for adventure and longing to be a part of something grand into a tool for the old farts to get more.

This story is as old as the world, and yet is able to played upon each new generation. The angels must weap, asking God if it is not yet time for Him to intervene.

I agree. It's really sad. In one of the videos I think a soldier said 80% are conscripts.

Russia has National Service?

19 though? That's three years in for the British Army. You can join at 16. I went to school with someone who did that.

Contrary to Geneva Convention.
I remember in the first Gulf War when two RAF pilots were shot down and they were paraded on camera in this way.
The world was up in arms because it was against the Geneva Convention to do this... so even more evidence that Sadam was Lucifer incarnate.
Now the Ukrainians are doing it so it's fine.

Don't get me wrong ...like every other good person on earth today I totally enjoy participating in corporate sponsored hate and promotion of violence against people I have never met, but somehow I get a funny feeling inside when I watch these guys as they are forced to recite the corporate messages.

And do you have proof that they are being forced to say these things?

I believe you posted some videos above. Sorry I am not smart enough to link them.

In the interests of balance I'd like to hear what captured Ukrainian soldiers have to say for themselves.

They all seem to be saying the same thing. That means one of two things:
1. What they are saying is true and consistent.
2. They are all being coached to say the same thing.

My money's on number 2.
Mind you, we only get to hear from a handful, so maybe the rest of them wouldn't play ball.

Of course! As long as the "good guys" do it, they can do whatever they want and no one bats an eye.

Totally false about the US. The military is disproportionately from middle class, not poor, backgrounds.

This series of posts reminds me that most Americans fighting in WW2 had no clue they were fighting a war to facilitate the rise to power of the Soviet Union.

Well nevermind, my arguement is totally irrelevant if suburban kids are involved because they dont want adventure or need a paycheck.

Did no one ever listen to "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath, or "Fortunate Son" by Creedence Clearwater Revival?
