I read sometime back Putin was asked if/when he would invade Ukraine. He responded with something along the lines of ~ It would be according to plan. He did not state that it was his plan. Left the door open for interpretation.

My opinion is based upon speculation encouraged by the numerous sites that I visit.

The invasion of Ukraine had little to do with Ukraine itself. It was to draw the US into sanctions that will ultimately cripple the US - not Russia.

The sanctions will cause economic crisis here. De-platforming Russia from SWIFT will cause them to default on their loans. Western banks will suffer. Russia exports a great deal to western countries. They cannot pay Russia so Russia does not export. We have become dependent on fuel from Russia. It does not take much of an imagination to understand the inflation jumps that will/are occurring due to high fuel coast.

All Putin had to do was get a knee-jerk reaction from our government.
