Well, then all their family libs got on and talked about how disrespectful and hurtful it was for them to post that--don't they care about leaving the 99 to protect the one? Don't they care about protecting and doing all they can for their vulnerable family members?
It's pretty pathetic. They don't care about personal responsibility. They just demand everyone only think about them. They don't realize how off putting that attitude is.
I've seen similar sentiments from someone who was very elderly, and said he knew he was going to die soon anyway, so couldn't he be allowed to live out the rest of his life outside house arrest?

They're actually illiberal. Proper liberalism means minimal state involvement in personal affairs. Not the opposite. Some of these people are vaguely liberal when it comes to sexual matters, but that's it.

It's about time people started calling this out as a perversion of this word. What good are Conservatives who do not conserve tradition and Liberals who are illiberal and statist?...
Good point.
Ideological mob boxes are illogical - when you think of even the labels, it doesn’t make sense. I don’t like labels & yet I find myself using them because so many identify themselves with & base their behavior on their herd.
A lot of these so called liberals are statists and socialists which is antithetical to real liberalism. Libertarians have a better claim on the name. If you look at old Communist articles and letters, you can see the likes of Trotsky, Lenin and Stalin using "liberal" as a term of abuse against people who weren't Communist enough.

The same applies to "Humanist". This used to refer to people who had wide knowledge of the humanities and culture etc, now its meaning has been distorted into referring to fanatics who want religion removed root and branch from all society.
