Re: The elect are not and will not be deceived
you can do this search on https://www.lds-general-conference.org/ for words and phrases used in GC - here's a sample of "prepping" terms I could think of to search for - it shows you the frequency of the word by decade in GC - and they've all but stopped talking about prepping:blitzinstripes wrote: ↑February 11th, 2022, 4:53 pmYes, that is quite a peculiar observation. The church in the years post WW2 through the 1990s sure did focus a lot more on preparedness. (Or prepping, as we geeks like to call it.) And obviously since the second coming didn't happen yet, it stands to reason that we are CLOSER to it now. Closer than ever before. In all honesty, I wonder if it's (almost) too late? It takes a lot of time and money to build a year's supply of no perishable food, let alone finances, supplies, weapons (yes I said itmudflap wrote: ↑February 11th, 2022, 2:23 pmgood question.
I haven't heard any "get your food storage in order" talks since Kimball died, except for that gas-lighting talk back in 2021.So....we don't need food storage anymore, or we don't need to be told anymore? Are they saying that new members that joined after they stopped talking about it don't need to hear it? Meanwhile, the alarm bells and the Spirit is telling me otherwise on the jab, the masks, the debt, and the food storage.
So.....I don't know.), not to mention most of the church and the world simply does not possess the knowledge and skillset to survive perilous times. I'm a country boy from a farm, avid hunter and outdoorsman, prepped, firearms junkie, camping fool, eagle scout with a solid construction trades, electrical, and mechanical background, and I worry that I'm not sufficiently prepared and lack the skills.

so, either
- "they can't" (legal reasons = you're supposed to have the Spirit guide you (Nelson); or
- they won't (because "love" and "nebulous ideas" are what we need to hear? we can't handle meat? and this is the church that's going welcome the Second Coming?)
my cabin/B.O.L. should be done this year....

Re: The elect are not and will not be deceived
Yeah, I believe God chooses based on who chooses & prioritizes God.
Sounds so simple, but truth is hard - for everyone. On this thread, I see dogmatic lies believed because of tradition. That’s deception. I’ve been fooled too & am wrestling with truth. It breaks your heart & isn’t fun. Nobody really wants to follow Christ through it all - but that’s the narrow way that few find.

Once you are this full of yourself, telling people to follow the Q15, even over God's word, just makes sense. After all, Christ is so old news. The church has to change with the times. Christ followed his father. Today, we have Fauci and Schwab.endlessismyname wrote: ↑February 11th, 2022, 7:30 pmI guess this is why they don’t have to have their temple recommends renewed?SempiternalHarbinger wrote: ↑February 11th, 2022, 6:53 pmFred, maybe you didn't get the memo, even if the brethren are socialist, or are following satan, they have earned a permanent pass and are in good standing with God. Do you believe that a lying prick that allows homeless women and children to live on the street without intervening, can receive an effective C & E made sure? If Ballard is not convinced of the efficacy, why should we believe a blowhard like Holland? I would suggest that this ordinance was not performed by Christ. If it had been, the Q15 would not be whimpering cowards and would have faith. Nobody on earth has less faith than the Q15. If they had faith, they would not take advice from PR people, accountants, and attorneys. There would be only one gospel, the same yesterday, today, and forever. According to Salt Lake doctrine if you've been given the Second Anointing, you can do practically anything you want and still "get out of jail free".

That's not exactly the doctrine.
You would still go to jail so to speak, and suffer for your unrepented sins, but you get to go straight to the CK when you get out.

There seem to be some people who don't get excommunicated, or can't be. The Second Anointing probably explains some of that. Not all GAs have it apparently. Hamula was probably one who didn't, and whatever he did got him in trouble.Robin Hood wrote: ↑February 12th, 2022, 4:33 amThat's not exactly the doctrine.

That's why I think this scripture is referring to a future time. A time after the members go through much hardship and severe persecution.
That seems to be backed up by the heading for Mathew 24
Jesus foretells the doom of Jerusalem and the destruction of the temple—Great calamities will precede His Second Coming—He gives the parable of the fig tree.
This is a beautiful promise from God that if you would be elect as he describes then you will NOT be deceived . . .

"13. In whom ye also trusted, that after ye heard the word of truth, the Gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,
"14. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of His glory, that we may be sealed up unto the day of redemption."--Ephesians, 1st chapter.
This principle ought (in its proper place) to be taught, for God hath not revealed anything to Joseph, but what He will make known unto the Twelve, and even the least Saint may know all things as fast as he is able to bear them, for the day must come when no man need say to his neighbor, Know ye the Lord; for all shall know Him (who remain) from the least to the greatest. How is this to be done? It is to be done by this sealing power, and the other Comforter spoken of, which will be manifest by revelation.” Joseph Smith TPJS p. 149
Sad that they don’t know calling and election is bestowed by God and not by man. The calling and election seals us, it is the sealing power. It’s also telling that Joseph says this should be taught and that the least Saint may know it. In all my years at church I never heard of it. They don’t teach it because they don’t understand it or they think the “second anointing” is reserved for “special” people and it’s to be kept hush hush.

“The other Comforter spoken of is a subject of great interest, and perhaps understood by few of this generation. After a person has faith in Christ, repents of his sins, and is baptized for the remission of his sins and receives the Holy Ghost, (by the laying on of hands),which is the first Comforter, then let him continue to humble himself before God, hungering and thirsting after righteousness, and living by every word of God, and the LORD WILL SOON SAY UNTO HIM, Son, thou shalt be exalted. When the Lord has thoroughly proved him, and finds that the man is determined to serve Him at all hazards, then the man will find his calling and his election made sure, then it will be his privilege to receive the other Comforter, which the Lord hath promised the Saints, as is recorded in the testimony of St. John, in the 14th chapter, from the 12th to the 27th verses….” TPJS p. 150
Calling and election happens directly through Jesus Christ. The examples of the prophets in the scriptures suggest that we must sacrifice and lay everything on the altar and prove through much tribulation and toil that we are worthy to follow Him at all costs. We cannot do this from our couches in our comfy homes. I think for many people this will happen after the tribulations start and the judgements are poured out upon the earth.

Only Mormon's could be so narrow minded to possibly think that Jesus was referring to the leaders
of the LDS church.

Re: The elect are not and will not be deceived
There are several people on this forum that claim to have received their Calling and Election made sure. So I would ask any of them to describe if it is a life changing experience, or if one could simply continue to follow a false profit and send people to their death via the clot shot? Continue to lie about masks, continue to direct people to follow satanists such as Fauci and Schwab? Continue to direct KSL to lie at every turn? Continue to turn your back on the women with children that have been abandoned and are living in their car or on the street? Continue to partner with satan at every chance in order to keep the loot that God has no need of? Continue to accept LGBT as normal? Continue to finance abortions? Continue to donate millions to violent terrorist groups?
Or would a change of habits be in order?

Re: The elect are not and will not be deceived
Can the elect be deceived (Matthew 24:24)?
https://www.gotquestions.org/elect-deceived.html
Answer
In what is often referred to as His Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24, Jesus speaks about events that will take place before His second coming. One of the warnings Christ gives is this: “For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect” (verse 24).
The Greek word translated “elect” is eklektós, which means “chosen ones.” It’s a term used a number of times in the New Testament to refer to true believers in Jesus (e.g., Luke 18:7; Romans 8:33; Colossians 3:12). Will the false miracles performed by the false messiahs and prophets in the end times be so convincing that even born-again believers will be led astray?
There are two reasons why the answer to this question is “no.”
First, nearly all Bible commentators agree that the grammatical construction of the verse and its parenthetical statement “if possible” strongly point to such a thing being out of the question.
The deception will be strong, the miracles will seem real, and the intent will be to mislead everyone, including the elect. But God’s grace will prevail. His chosen ones will not be drawn away into deception.
Second, the Bible firmly speaks to the fact that the elect are protected by God from deceptions that would result in eternal separation from Christ. Paul tells us that God “chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him” (Ephesians 1:4); Peter says that the chosen “are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time” (1 Peter 1:5); and Jude says that the chosen are “beloved in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ” (Jude 1:1). The elect will persevere in God’s strength.
With respect to following false Christs, Jesus says, “He who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers” (John 10:2–5). The sheep know their Shepherd.
Being deceived is a mark of the unregenerate: “At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures” (Titus 3:3). After salvation, we may stray from the truth at times, but the Bible makes it clear that the elect of God cannot be deceived to the extent of being finally lost. If God’s chosen ones could be deceived in such a way, God’s choice of them would be defeated, and that is not possible. All who are in Christ have been predestined, called, justified, and will eventually be glorified (Romans 8:30). They have been given to Christ; and of all those who have been given to Him, He will lose none (John 10:28).

Re: The elect are not and will not be deceived
ALL these scriptures are important.Mamabear wrote: ↑February 11th, 2022, 12:49 pm I’ve been studying the topic of the elect. It’s clear to me that the elect have not been and will not be deceived. The key phrase is “if it were possible.” It isn’t possible to deceive the elect. They are God’s and know his voice.
This is why it’s hard to watch those around us fall for deception, especially in leadership positions. We have been conditioned to believe they are the elect.
“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, IF IT WERE POSSIBLE, they shall deceive the very elect.” Matthew 24:24
“For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.”
Mark 13:22
“And ye are called to bring to pass the gathering of mine elect; for mine elect hear my voice and harden not their hearts;”
D&C 29:7
A funny side note is, in Matthew 24:24, Christ is talking about the end time right before He comes. However, if you look at the footnote for that scripture it says, apostasy of the early Christian church. That’s not at all what He was talking about. It’s my belief in scriptures where it refers to false prophets, they try to sway you (in the footnotes) to think that it’s during the early apostasy, when really it’s the later apostasy.
Matthew
CHAPTER 24 (JST)
4 ¶ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be which thou hast said concerning the destruction of the temple, and the Jews;
and what is the sign of thy coming and of the end of the world
(or the destruction of the wicked, which is the end of the world)?
5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
6 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
7 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
8 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
9 And many false prophets shall arise and shall deceive many.
10 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
11 But he that remaineth steadfast and is not overcome, the same shall be saved.
12 When ye therefore, shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, concerning the destruction of Jerusalem, then ye shall stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth let him understand:)
13 Then let them who are in Judaea flee into the mountains:
14 Let him who is on the housetop flee and not return to take any thing out of his house:
15 Neither let him who is in the field return back to take his clothes.
16 And woe unto them that are with child and unto them that give suck in those days!
17 Therefore, pray ye the Lord that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day:
18 For then, in those days, shall be great tribulations on the Jews and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, such as was not before sent upon Israel, of God, since the beginning of their kingdom until this time, no, nor ever shall be sent again upon Israel.
19 All things which have befallen them are only the beginning of the sorrows which shall come upon them;
and except those days should be shortened, there should none of their flesh be saved.
20 But for the elect’s sake, according to the covenant, those days shall be shortened.
21 Behold, these things I have spoken unto you concerning the Jews.
22 And again, AFTER the tribulation of those days which shall come upon Jerusalem,
if any man shall say unto you, Lo! Here is Christ, or there, believe him not.
23 For in those days, there shall also arise false Christs and false prophets and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch that, IF POSSIBLE, they shall deceive the very elect, who are the elect according to the covenant.
24 Behold, I speak these things unto you FOR THE ELECT'S SAKE.
25 And ye also shall hear of wars, and rumours of wars; see that ye be not troubled; for all I have told you must come to pass. But the end is not yet.
26 Behold, I have told you before. Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
27 For as the light of the morning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west, and covereth the whole earth, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.
28 And now I shew unto you a parable: Behold, wheresoever the carcase is,
there will the eagles be gathered together; so likewise
SHALL MINE ELECT BE GATHERED FROM THE FOUR QUARTERS OF THE EARTH.
29 And they shall hear of wars and rumours of wars. Behold, I speak unto you for mine elect’s sake.
30 For nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom; there shall be famine, and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places.
31 And again, because iniquity shall abound, the love of men shall wax cold; but he that shall not be overcome, the same shall be saved.
32 And again, this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come, or the destruction of the wicked.
33 And again, shall the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, be fulfilled.
34 ¶ And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
35 Verily, I say unto you, This generation, in which these things shall be shewn forth, shall not pass away until all I have told you shall be fulfilled.
36 Although the days will come that heaven and earth shall pass away, yet my word shall not pass away; but all shall be fulfilled.
37 And as I said before, after the tribulation of those days, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken, then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn.
38 And they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
39 And whoso treasureth up my words shall not be deceived.
40 For the Son of Man shall come, and he shall send his angels before him with the great sound of a trumpet; and they shall gather together the remainder of his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
41 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When its branches are yet tender, and it begins to put forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh at hand:
42 So likewise mine elect, when they shall see all these things, they shall know that he is near, even at the doors.
43 ¶ But of that day and hour no one knoweth; no, not the angels of God in heaven, but my Father only.
44 But as it was in the days of Noah, so it shall be also at the coming of the Son of Man.
45 For it shall be with them as it was in the days which were before the flood; for until the day that Noah entered into the ark, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, and knew not until the flood came and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.
46 Then shall be fulfilled that which is written, that in the last days,
47 Two shall be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left.
48 Two shall be grinding at the mill; the one taken and the other left.
49 ¶ And what I say unto one, I say unto all men; Watch, therefore, for ye know not at what hour your Lord doth come.
50 But know this, if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched and would not have suffered his house to have been broken up, but would have been ready.
51 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
52 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
53 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
54 And verily, I say unto you, He shall make him ruler over all his goods.
55 But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My Lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The Lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and shall appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
56 And thus cometh the end of the wicked according to the prophecy of Moses, saying, They should be cut off from among the people. But the end of the earth is not yet, but by and by.

Re: The elect are not and will not be deceived
Thank you. Where can I find this chapter of Matthew JST? It’s not in my quad.Being There wrote: ↑February 12th, 2022, 10:45 amALL these scriptures are important.Mamabear wrote: ↑February 11th, 2022, 12:49 pm I’ve been studying the topic of the elect.
4 ¶ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be which thou hast said concerning the destruction of the temple, and the Jews;
and what is the sign of thy coming and of the end of the world
(or the destruction of the wicked, which is the end of the world)?
19 All things which have befallen them are only the beginning of the sorrows which shall come upon them;
and except those days should be shortened, there should none of their flesh be saved.

Re: The elect are not and will not be deceived
the scriptures have been edited and changed hundreds of times by you know who.Mamabear wrote: ↑February 12th, 2022, 11:15 amThanks. I don’t understand…..so there is more JST than what is in our scriptures? How? Is this public knowledge or is it not public knowledge? How do we know if it’s the real deal?Being There wrote: ↑February 12th, 2022, 11:07 amhttps://scriptures.byu.edu/Mamabear wrote: ↑February 12th, 2022, 11:00 amThank you. Where can I find this chapter of Matthew JST? It’s not in my quad.Being There wrote: ↑February 12th, 2022, 10:45 am
ALL these scriptures are important.
Matthew
CHAPTER 24 (JST)
4 ¶ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be which thou hast said concerning the destruction of the temple, and the Jews;
and what is the sign of thy coming and of the end of the world
(or the destruction of the wicked, which is the end of the world)?
19 All things which have befallen them are only the beginning of the sorrows which shall come upon them;
and except those days should be shortened, there should none of their flesh be saved.

It is my understanding that the LDS church does not have the complete JST, but the RLDS church does. If you search the JST resource on LDS org, it is incomplete.
