Gman, I agree with you 100%. Riots and violence are counter productive and must be avoided at all costs. That being said, do you think that peaceful protests would be a useful vehicle to bring public opinion back to the basic principle of the Constitution? I.E. less government, fair tax system, states rights, etc

I also believe that we as members of the Church have a great opportunity to spread the gospel during the down turn of the economy we are experiencing. More people will be humbled and more receptive to the Gospel.

TPTB are playing the "divide and conquer" game with Americans. We must not fall into their trap. Our lesson today in RS was about being respectful of others, whether it be religion or other matters; we are not to be contentious. Peaceful demonstrations can be a good thing. I wonder, though, how peaceful they will remain. You can be sure there will be "inciters" on both sides. I imagine, judging from Obama so far, that he will not tolerate much dissent. My big fear is marial law.

It behooves us, as LDS to set the example. We're probably going to be tested by the protesters at Gen'l Conference. It's a good time for us to practice restraint and not reply in kind. Our chances to be good examples and spread the gospel are getting slimmer with each passing day.

They know we are smart enough to not instigate a confrontation so the will have to provoke the confrontation through a controlled group thet the can provocateur which will then provide them with the cause to subjugate all people under a martial law order. We as informed citizens hold the high ground and if you think about it, all we need to win is to survive because as the Lord has said the wicked will destroy the wicked. So let's not be wicked and be part of the righteous that the Lord will defend.

Of course our gov is playing divide and conquer. I swear they all have Munchhausen by proxy. making the problems worse just so that they can come out with the solution and be the saviors of us all and like good sheep that the majority of the ppl are, they'll have us enslave and on the road to communism before we know it.

They could easily have ppl united and hopeful, instead we get all this speeches from the president saying how bad things are and much worse they are going to get just to instill fear, hopelessness and desperation in the heart of ppl. Ergo making them weak easy to manipulate and control.
