I was hearing about people having issues with it thirty years ago.Jashon wrote: ↑November 18th, 2022, 6:15 am Today's pot is not yesterday's. It's lethal, figuratively and literally. THC levels are now 10 times the concentration of what they were in the 1970s. Young people in particular are suffering from psychotic breaks and high levels of paranoia and they are too often killing themselves. Dabs are high-THC marijuana concentrates that can be deadly, as those who ingest them become delusional and commit self-harm. Check out Laura Stack's book.
Tell that to Laura Stack, an expert on cannabis.MikeMaillet wrote: ↑November 18th, 2022, 8:53 amPeople are not dying of cannabis use just like people are not dying of covid.
19-year-old Johnny was dead three days after saying this, having killed himself. It was a few years from the time that he began his cannabis use.. . . the conversation of only three days [earlier] flashed into my mind. Looking back, Johnny had warned us over dinner. “Mom, I just want you to know you were right. You were right all along. You told me marijuana would hurt my brain. Marijuana has ruined my mind and my life. I’m sorry, and I love you.”
Johnny became just one of the 80 youths in Colorado ages 15-19 who died by suicide in 2019. . . . 36% of youth who died by suicide were positive for THC in 2018, the last year data is available.

I think I've stated already that only adults should use mind altering substances and to suggest that cannabis was the cause of these suicides is quite a leap. Good luck proving causation.Jashon wrote: ↑November 18th, 2022, 12:31 pmTell that to Laura Stack, an expert on cannabis.MikeMaillet wrote: ↑November 18th, 2022, 8:53 amPeople are not dying of cannabis use just like people are not dying of covid.19-year-old Johnny was dead three days after saying this, having killed himself. Actually, it's not a problem. The problem is with tobacco companies who add chemicals to the tobacco that makes it much easier for the body to absorb nicotine thus greatly increasing the potential for addiction. If tobacco was left unaltered, people would not be smoking this stuff.
You are correct about rising THC levels but that only means that I'll be using less to achieve the desired effect. I've tried the extracts such as shatter and vape pens and I advise against them; too many chemicals. As for expertise, unless Ms. Stark has used the product, she is not an expert.Jashon wrote: ↑November 18th, 2022, 4:43 pm The point made about tobacco companies enhancing nicotine absorption is quite similar to the point about marijuana plants now being much much higher in THC than before, because they've been modified to be more potent. The flower can be over 40% THC. So they're narcotic-strength now.
Expertise can be obtained by learning and writing about hundreds of relevant details over several years.

No idea about MK Ultra, but my personal experience is that political activists who take the stuff tend to yap on a lot and do very little. So in that sense it helps the status quo.Wondering Wendy wrote: ↑November 20th, 2022, 9:19 pm I don't know if this is true, but I have heard it said in conspiracy theory circles that marijuana helps break MKUltra mind control. Cathy O'Brien testified to this rule that when she was being trafficked, working as a high level prostitute and courier and under complete control thru MK Ultra handlers, she was allowed any drug except cannabis for this very reason.Wondering Wendy wrote: ↑November 20th, 2022, 9:19 pm I don't know if this is true, but I have heard it said in conspiracy theory circles that marijuana helps break MKUltra mind control. MikeMaillet wrote: ↑November 18th, 2022, 8:53 am Hi dosages of THC often lead to rather unpleasant experiences and all entheogens should be used by adults only. People who have had bad experiences with THC usually never repeat their experiments with high dosages. This is the voice of experience speaking. THC is not lethal nor is it harmful physically; eating too many Big Macs will kill you eventually but not cannabis.
The argument that cannabis is harmful just brings about a discussion of what-aboutism and leads nowhere. People are not dying of cannabis use just like people are not dying of covid. I'm 65 years old and began using cannabis at the age of about 50. I have not had any psychotic episodes nor have the dozens of people who I know use cannabis.
Cannabis has been legal in Canada for a few years now and the sky has yet to fall. I have yet to read a single story of any Canadian dying because of cannabis use. The cannabis dispensaries are staffed with knowledgeable people who will steer new users in the right direction.
Like I said before, it's a plant, period. If it makes you feel unpleasant, then don't use it.
