Everyone needs psychiatric therapy

Post by Lizzy60 »

So says Steve Young, in this week’s LDSLiving.

His call to action at the end of the video is direct: “Please do not feel stigmatized by going to ... counseling. I encourage you—every one of you, every one of you—to go make an appointment.”

https://www.ldsliving.com/watch-steve-y ... dium=email

The video was made for BYU Athletics, so maybe only BYU athletes need therapy.

Barf. I've found that sane people generally do just the opposite of anything Steve Young says.

Right. I would recommend Joe Montana over S. Young any day. Steve became 'woke' years ago.

If everybody needs therapy, what does that tell you?

I have heard stories of LDS therapists telling married couples that they should try an open marriage to fix their marital issues

This is right in line with the church moving away from individuality to collectivism and away from faith based answers to worldly answers.

There is at least one prominent LDS therapist who has been excommunicated for the “advice” she was giving LGBT teenagers. She was recommending all sorts of activities that the church frowns upon.

That I think Steve is 'projecting'. A common psychological defense mechanism.

Poor boy. Another article on LDS Living has a PhD BYU psychologist going into Steve's self-admitted malady of childhood 'separation anxiety", citing how it can be caused by a child's first separation from parents, when starting school for the first time.

No sense that his parents split or died when he was young or anything similar, though perhaps this kind of real trauma played into his particular 'separation anxiety'.

If not . . . . . poor boy! It rips my heart.

If you honestly believe that the entire world is sick, that should tell you that we as a society are not doing things right.

In Mexico, the "Chanclazo" and the "Cinturón" were widely used as psychological treatments and in many cases are still used today.

It has proven quite effective over the years. Keeps people on the straight and narrow.

It really depends who you go with and whether they have dealt with their own issues.

Urgh, no thanks. I had those. They don't help you deal with things like bereavement or depression, they just stop you playing up.

I've heard 'swingers' groups of LDS couples are legion along the MorCor, so this doesn't surprise me at all.

Obviously those would NOT work when dealing with the loss of a loved one. They are better used to correct misbehavior.

Or to terrorise a child you don't like. I've seen that too. Used to see it used against some children more than others.

I had a few of those, to include willows I had to cut myself.

Ever met a chiropractor who thinks you don't need an adjustment? Me neither.

We have a lot of these types of things in our society now all under the banner of wellness. They make you feel better temporarily, but are designed for long term dependence.

It is interesting to me that our church preaches against dependence creating consumables like tobacco, alcohol, and drugs, but actively pushes people towards medical and psychological dependence.

I would be fine with the collectivism part if we were uniting around something other than agenda 2030. But this new trust in the world is pretty much the opposite of being one with Christ.

As a reminder, never, ever, EVER trust a counselor, psychologist or psychiatrist. NEVER. They are dangerous and evil - even if they themselves are not personally evil, they are part of an evil system that was designed to ensnare and destroy God's children. Fact.

Review this sickening video carefully:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=080b2xaA0RE
I know of some very high level "family counselors" that are bishops, stake presidents and otherwise who are simply evil. The BYU psychology department is rife with corruption.
