Oaks goes full Communist

Post by TrueFaith »

Dallin H Oaks speaks at U of Virginia Nov 12, 2021:

In summary:
Teachings based on faith in God — however defined — have always contributed to moral actions that benefit the entire nation. This will continue to be so as religious people love and serve their neighbors as an expression of their love of God. As Lance B. Wickman, general counsel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, recently observed:

When we exercise our religious freedom to serve and lift to strengthen community ties and to pour oil on troubled waters, and to make America better — when we use our religious freedom to bring people together in unity and love — we are defending and preserving religious liberty and the Constitution in a most profound way.

In this way, more than any other, the importance of religious freedom will be better understood and better protected.

I earnestly invite all religious leaders and associations to coalesce more effectively — and that often means out of court — to seek peaceful resolution of painful conflicts between religious freedom and nondiscrimination. This does not require an examination of doctrinal differences or even our many common elements of belief. All that is necessary for unity and a broad coalition to promote our common need for religious freedom is our shared conviction that God has commanded us to love one another, including our neighbors with different beliefs and cultures.[24] This invites all believers, as President Russell M. Nelson has challenged our members, to “expand our circle of love to embrace the whole human family.”[25]

In doing so, we must not allow fears about losing our own freedoms make us insensitive to others’ claims for theirs. Let us unite with those who advocate nondiscrimination to seek a culture and laws that respect the rights of all to the equal protection of the law and the right to the free exercise of religion. From the experience of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I believe we can proceed toward this goal by mutual respect and willing accommodation. The right relationship between religious freedom and nondiscrimination is best achieved by respecting each other enough to negotiate in good faith and by caring for each other enough that the freedom and protection we seek is not for ourselves alone
https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.or ... f-virginia

Read it all. The whole thing is pure deception.

Individual freedom will always be the very best way to love our neighbors and to promote the most successful environment for opportunity. This "shared morality" and "shared responsibility" crap is Lucifer's way no matter how much you try to sugar coat it. It will never lead to happiness. It always leads to the destruction of everyone's freedom.

“But even though the First Amendment obviously guarantees the right to exercise or practice religious beliefs and affiliations, that right is not absolute. As advocates for religious freedom, we must yield to the fact that in a nation with citizens of many different religious beliefs or disbeliefs, the government must sometimes limit the right of some to act upon their beliefs when it is necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of all.“

If a group supports involuntary human sacrifice, should it be allowed? Where are the limits set?

"In the war in heaven the devil advocated absolute eternal security at the sacrifice of our freedom. Although there is nothing more desirable to a Latter-day Saint than eternal security in God’s presence, and although God knew, as did we, that some of us would not achieve this security if we were allowed our freedom—yet the very God of heaven, who has more mercy than us all, still decreed no guaranteed security except by a man’s own freedom of choice and individual initiative. Today the devil as a wolf in a supposedly new suit of sheep’s clothing is enticing some men, both in and out of the Church, to parrot his line by advocating planned government-guaranteed security programs at the expense of our liberties. Latter-day Saints should be reminded how and why they voted as they did in heaven. If some have decided to change their vote they should repent—throw their support on the side of freedom—and cease promoting this subversion."

Since the church has not condemned the worldwide tyranny, oppression, mandates and misery it is creating...and now this statement from Oaks...

Along with their enthusiastic "urging" of the members to get the suicide shot...

....and if you go to their website in this unprecedented time of tyranny and oppression...you find...how to understand LGBTQ and Muslims...

Yes, I would call it an aweful situation.

This is an ecumenical approach and it makes perfect sense in these days to have this. Why? There is not just one faith, there are several. Lines can be better drawn when we are talking about the majority of people in this world who are faithful.

4 billion people in this world are followers of Jesus Christ in their own way. There are fewer than 20 million Latter-day Saints.

Yes, I would call it an aweful situation.
I get your angst about understanding LGBT (though there are several people that though they have same-sex attraction, they strive to live their covenants). We have to make sure that there is a differentiation there between those that admit they have a weakness towards the same-sex, and those that define themselves by their sins.

I do NOT get your angst about understanding Muslims. We are about to construct a temple in Dubai and increasingly there are Muslims in Utah and Idaho among other areas.

You misunderstand my position. I have nothing against either group...

...but given the OBVIOUS literal fulfillment of Ether 8 unfolding worldwide...and the unprecedented tyranny, oppression and pain...their focus is not just out of touch with what's going on...but negligent as it relates to freedom.

They are going along with Babylon..to get along.

They should be speaking out against tyranny!!!

Oaks is a wolf in sheep's clothing. He's introducing Communism in a very crafty way. They always do it this way, with "love and tolerance" and "shared responsibility". I can see right through it.

He doesn't fool those with the Spirit of discernment. I will fight against this wicked ideology with all my heart, might, mind and strength all the days of my life. I will use their own tactics against them until they are wiped clean out of the Lord's Church.

I will not stop, and I will not rest. In every church calling I hold, I will go after them one by one until they flee the church in terror. I've already done this to one ex bishop Communist. Your title or position does not scare or intimidate me. The angels are on my side and we outnumber you. You cannot hide. I will find you.

You must have construed my use of the Joseph Smith quote as a retort against truefaith and mamabear; it was not. I was pointing out that Joseph Smith supports the unrestricted exercise of religion up to the prohibition against death for religious differences. In light of Joseph Smith’s support and doctrinal justification for religious capital punishment (Blood Atonement), this shows that Joseph Smith’s stance is quite opposite Oaks’ quotations.

You have to consider the statement in context to our present situation. We have had NOTHING BUT government overreach, tyrannical oppression and unconstitutional edicts and mandates the last 18 months in the name of "health"...and Oaks opines on "sometimes limit the right of some to act upon their beliefs when it is necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of all"???

He is ENDORSING what has just occured...he should be CONDEMING it! Notice he used the words health, safety and welfare. Those were not on accident. They describe the last 18 months.

He is being an apologist for the government overreach, tyrannical behavior and oppression.

Show me one paragraph from Q15 condemning the tyrannical worldwide mandates of a forced medical proceedure...to be able to buy, sell, leave your house, keep your job.

Waiting...

Ezra Taft Benson
“All governments ought to permit every man to enjoy his religion unmolested. No man is authorized to take away life in consequence of difference of religion, which all laws and governments ought to tolerate and protect, right or wrong. Every man has a natural, and, in our country, a constitutional right to be a false prophet, as well as a true prophet” (Joseph Smith, STPJS 344).
I think you’re misunderstanding... Oaks talk doesn’t seem to be saying “everyone can worship how they want”... he literally says that WE should be ok losing our freedoms in order to accommodate for others.

Like I said, this is a precursor to gay marriage in the temple. We had a thread about that... “who is going to be the one to do it?” My guess is Oaks.
My bad 👍

Don’t agree about blood atonement though.

I have explained the law of consecration to conservative non-members and was told that it was communism. Even after I explained that it is by choice.

Elder Oaks statement is not full communist because Elder Oaks isn't forcing you to live his point of view. He is asking you to consider it.

You are free to take it or leave it.

Actually, this statement is communistic:
...the government must sometimes limit the right of some to act upon their beliefs when it is necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of all.
I mean, holy sh*t. He basically just said that they are in favor of health mandates. This includes vax mandates.

Wake up, please.

He used the word "nondiscrimination" a few times. That word probably doesn't mean what we suppose it means.

TrueFaith wrote: November 13th, 2021, 6:36 am Dallin H Oaks speaks at U of Virginia Nov 12, 2021:

There is nothing full communist about this.
What does he mean?

“But even though the First Amendment obviously guarantees the right to exercise or practice religious beliefs and affiliations, that right is not absolute. As advocates for religious freedom, we must yield to the fact that in a nation with citizens of many different religious beliefs or disbeliefs, the government must sometimes limit the right of some to act upon their beliefs when it is necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of all.“
He means giving up your individual rights for the safety and security of the collective. It’s communism. It’s Satan’s plan.
The collective is “saved”. Individuals don’t matter. Totally wrong.
