Must have been in another group, but yes, it has been thoroughly debunked. It is a lie that Rasband said that. It's amazing to me (but shouldn't be) how many members just believe it simply because someone said he said it.
Interesting about DP. I've dialogued w/him a lot on his blog, and didn't know this about his 'personality' until experiencing first hand and multiple times, the sarcastic ridicule he is addicted to on certain, shall we say, political issues and towards those he disagrees with.

And he's clueless about how he comes across, being astonished that major contributors to his Interpreter Foundation, stop contributing because of these tendencies.

But what a devoted crowd he has there, one that hangs on his every word.
i contributed to the MIF from the beginning as i felt the “communists” ran him out of the MI……but in 2016 i stopped when i saw his disdain for folks outside of the “GOP establishment” arena of ideas….
Politically he thinks he's very enlightened. But one of his go-to people is (or has been) William Kristol, an editor of Project for a New American Century, and a son of Irving Kristol, who could be considered a founder of the Neoconservative movement. Irving had been a follower of Leon Trotsky in his younger days. Irving was also associated w/Norman Podhoretz, an editor of Commentary Magazine, and Midge Dector (married to Podheretz).

William Kristol has publicly stated that he is the one that recruited Evan McMullin to jump into the presidential race as an independent, August 2016 . . . obviously as a spoiler against Trump's run (which amounted to enhancing Hillary's chances).

Daniel Peterson confessed publicly on his blog (in a reply to one of my posts) that he voted for McMullin. This, for me, along w/other political statements he has made, is proof positive that he has astonishing political naivete and confusion. Daniel also is a hard-core Mitt Romney fan defending him at every turn that I'm aware of, and thought Mitt's nasty, March 2016 anti-DT rant at the Hinkley Institute was brilliant and spot on.

It should be noted that William Kristol became a Democrat in January 2020, and voted for Biden last November. So, go figure.

Edit: corrected 2010 date to 2020. This was a recent development on Kristol's part.

Look up 'pompous @ss' in the dictionary, and there's a pic of DP. 8-) Lots of Mormons love to have flesh-and-blood idols; it's sad, really.
Ha! Just curious how you arrived at your assessment?

Just listening to him, and reading some of his articles. It's pretty blatant, IMO. Also, the people who fawn over him tend to be similarly afflicted.

Yes, he seems to attract an extremely loyal following, to the point of irrationality. And many who may oppose some of his views are still extremely polite to him, as if they are afraid to offend one of 'the Gods' ( . . .harking back to Roman/Greek times).
