THIS TOO SHALL PASS

Post by kathyn »

I posted this elsewhere, but perhaps this is worth a new topic?

I was listening to Doug Wright on KSL Radio this morning while I was driving. I couldn't believe my ears! He said something to the effect that although we've hit a rough patch, things are going to get better. He quoted, "This too shall pass". Everything will return to normal, yada yada. Nothing to worry about...

Sigh.........

I'm not a fan of him, at all. I wish he'd get lost in that little town he always talks about.

Lol, That little town West of me is called Ur-wreck-a by locals is undermined by miles of mine shafts and drifts. When the big one hits, Eureka will disappear into a big hole in a cloud of dust. Property is really cheap there---------

I heard a few bishops do the same thing as a guest visiting family in *gasp* Salt Lake Valley. I guess they don't get the secret Elder Packer meetings. One chided all of the younger families because he, being in his sixties, has been through a couple three recessions, and that they always pass, so . . . all is well in Zion! It's sad really. I'd love nothing more than for that bishop to be correct, and I know he's trying to qualm fears - but that is all the wrong way! You help people prepare. "When ye are prepared, ye shall not fear!"

Define prepared!
Within walking distance of someone with food storage AND armed with lots of self-serving quotes about consecration.

Prepare and PLAN for the worst, and live your life expecting that it will all turnaround by 2010.

Yes, Eureka, the town I was happily ignorant of until I listened to Doug.

But Doug is right, this too shall pass. It'll pass like a golf ball size kidney stone. A little on the painful side but well worth it.

Rough patch?

I love the vernacular that gets spread around and repeated by nit-wits without the slightest clue as to what is actually going on.

There are times when just a positive attitude can turn things around. This is NOT one of them.. It is structural to the core, it has only barely begun, it will last a long-long time, and things will get very very bad.

Doug Wright has a great radio voice, but somewhere along the line a frontal labotomy was performed on the part of his brain that processes things economic...

I can't claim to be a fan of Doug Wright, but the one or two times he's come to my attention was when he devoted the better part of his program to explaining why 'hate crime' legislation was good. For one of these episodes, I wrote him what I thought was a long and reasoned rebuttal, but never got a reply.

So, I think the operation you suggest he may have undergone, could have affected other areas of his mind, as well. But I don't want to be uncharitable, and suggest that the 'pre-frontal lobotomy' may have been in the form of miss-education, or is due to the strong possibility he just hasn't thought certain things through enough . . . . . hasn't had his wake-up epiphany, yet. And, of course, this may never happen regarding certain political/economic issues.
