Me, and my "Perfect Financial Storm"

Hi everyone. I'm a 36 year old Civil Engineer with 5-kids and a great wife. I don't really have many "hobbies" in the traditional sense. My favorite way to spend non-work time is trying to enlighten my mind with as much truth as I can get. Politics fascinates me. I'm far from a "Constitutional Expert", but it's easy to see She doesn't get much respect these days.

I'm a big believer in persuasion over force - liberty over socialism - Christ over Lucifer. I'm a big believer that the Constitution, as intended by the Fathers, will always have strong support among large numbers - and that those "large numbers" may ultimately have to separate from those who prefer darkness over light in order to re-establish the original spirit of the Constitution and to keep their liberty.

What got me into blogging was a need to sort out my thoughts on what I see as the most likely threats to our national stability, and a need to share those insights with my family and whoever would pay attention.

At my site, LatterDayLogic.com, I have a series of posts and a pdf essay on "The Perfect Financial Storm", which I hope many of you will find useful. Here's what it covers:

* Global Warming? Maybe. Our biggest threat? Not on your life.
* 19 reasons America may be facing a mega-depression in our lifetimes.
* Can we handle a depression?, or will the ever-cooling "melting pot" lead to 3rd Nephi-like tribalization?
* A "hypothetical future": depression, starvation, terror strikes on a weakened nation, United States of Fly-Over America.

It's a scary subject, and I didn't write it to convince anyone to move to Montana or to overly focus on just one subject, but instead to help drive home the point that God can humble this nation and the world, and the wise will be prepared for that possibility. At the end I have many "wise ant / foolish grasshopper", and "three little pig" examples of temporal and spiritual preparation we can do to prepare for whatever size of Storms that President Hinckley has warned to prepare for.

I address many other related subjects on my site that would surely interest this audience. If you think what I've done is in harmony with your own work, I hope you would link to me at your own sites. I hope to participate here also as much as I have time to.

I can understand that your favorite way to spend non-work time might be trying to enlighten your mind with as much truth as you can get. But I think your wife and 5 kids should take priority. And I know that can be a challenge. Been there, done that.

Mike,

Welcome to the forum. I look forward to learning together. I hope you can post some of the information on your site here as applicable (as it is difficult for me to find the time to peruse all the good sites out there).

Based on your initial bullet points, I can tell you've done your research and think you will find many who feel the same as you do on this forum.

Again, welcome.
