We had a locally broadcast adult session on Saturday with information from local leaders. There were many sacred topics discussed and some things so sacred I felt I shouldn't write them down in my notes. I want to be clear here, it wasn't a "get ready to pack up for Zion" kind of sacredness. It was a temple kind of sacredness. It didn't surprise me that the focus both locally, and in the broadcast the next day was on attending the temple (among a couple other things that are basic if you're living your religion).
On Sunday, we had a broadcast from Salt Lake for the OK, TX, and NM regions (or whatever they're called nowadays). President Uchtdorf presided. I really like this idea of the leadership. It cuts down on travel time, not to mention combining stake conference with district conferences (did I get that right?). And if it's broadcast over the Internet eventually, I will be thrilled to finally get to have my whole family together to listen to stake conference.
I don't feel I should talk about any of the highlights except one. I got the very strong impression while listening to Uchtdorf stress (several times) during his talk the importance of following promptings, that this will be very, very important during the coming storm. Christ is at the head of this Church, and if we are in tune with the Holy Ghost and follow His promptings in our individual lives, everything will come together as beautifully as if we had been told what to do in detail from the pulpit.
I left stake conference feeling very much at peace and unafraid. Even now, hearing many stories of doom and gloom, I know how to prepare much better than I did, even last week.
We have the right to walk with angels, if we choose it.
So, please go to your local stake conference. Much will be given... which implies much will be required.
