He also says you will “be cast into hell fire” if you follow them when they transgress.franklinbluth wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2021, 3:06 pmThe Lord tells us that those who won't heed the prophets and apostles will be cut off, so I'm fine with where I am.Luke wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2021, 3:04 pmIf you wish to believe that, then by all means do. I didn't "cut off" anything. I quoted the particularly relevant portion. The previous explains what verse 5 means. When it says "his word", we know what it means, as we've just been told. It's the word that he receives from God (hence the word "for").
Why do you WANT to follow a man? I don't understand.
Prophets in the Scriptures did not exist to be followed. They existed to teach. That's it.
If you want to use heed or hear or whatever instead of follow, that's fine by me. I think follow is sufficiently synonymous what what the D&C says.
46 And if thine eye which seeth for thee, him that is appointed to watch over thee to show thee light, become a transgressor and offend thee, pluck him out.
47 It is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God, with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.
