The GAs have said that we should have 3 months' supply. Not so long ago it was 1 year's supply, before that it was 2 years' supply. I'm beginning to think that even 2 years isn't going to be enough. If we have the money do you think we should get as much as we can possibly store, especially if we are to share with others? I know that members have been largely unfaithful wrt food storage, so why doesn't the Church use PPIs to separate families with food storage from those without? i.e. establish who has been faithful in obtaining 3 months, then privately encourage them to move on to a full year's suppy, and so on right up to those who can store 3 or 4 years' supply. Then everyone will be stretched to get as much as their personal situations will allow without feeling that the task is impossible. Those who don't even bother to attempt to store 3 months will be left thinking that the Church only asks for members to have a relatively small amount of food when they go on a rampage with their starving neighbours.
I think it's dangerous for faithful members to think that 3 months is enough. I know families who have their 100+ bags of wheat (1 year's supply), but no water filters and probably little else to eat.

Hmm. I wonder how empty the temples would be if they added a question about food storage to the list of temple interview questions?!
I know that has nothing to do with temple worthiness, but we help build Zion here and now, and in the future when we're busy engaged in taking care of our families needs, and make it possible to help other families down the road. (I'm leaving the computer now to take a look at my food storage spreadsheet!)

Sounds to me like the GA's have been trying to get people to quit being lazy. If they can get people to atleast do 3 months, then that is something. I think 7 years is a good goal. I know Brigham Young thought that, as well as scriptural stories that mention it. If the GA's council 3 months, and we can't even do that, what are they supposed to do? I wish everyone would heed their council and atleast do something!!!
Wow, 7 years would be a lot of food wouldn't it! Can you imagine how much that would be, just think about it lol.

Those who interpret the new pamphlet on preparedness as only a 3 months supply of food are only seeing what they want to see and are not prepared to see the rest. It says to start with a 3 months supply then add to it.
