Another question - do cats attack chickens? A neighbor's tom cat makes his way through our backyard every morning in search of mice and gophers. We like him for that, but don't know about the chickens.

You women need to be making vittles for your husbands instead of yapping on here about chickens anyway. Go fix em some vittles.
The guys in this house aren't helpless. They are busy fixing their own 'vittles'.

Our neighbor feeds at least 20 or so strays and they have never attacked our chickens. They have slept in the coop with them before when we've accidentally closed them in at night, and nothing happened. We've done that more than a couple times. Usually the cats are terrified by morning. I think they love to watch and dream, but I've never seen a cat attack. Dogs are another story.

I have never seen a cat go after a chicken. We have several cats and several feral cats around. They don't bother the chickens. Now, kittens will sometimes want "play" with the chickens. But kitties soon find out that the hens and roosters do not appreciate the attention.

That's what the fox said.

I was pretty worried about my neighborhood cats at first, but they don't seem to the hens. Just get big chickens. My buff Orpingtons are huge compared to an average cat...
