Uhhhh...already back 'in play' Today at a news conference in Washington, AG Eric Holder said the Obama administration would seek a new Assault Weapons Ban

ABC News: Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons Ban

The Obama administration will seek to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 during the Bush administration, Attorney General Eric Holder said today.

"As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Holder told reporters.

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

"I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum." Holder said at a news conference on the arrest of more than 700 people in a drug enforcement crackdown on Mexican drug cartels operating in the U.S.
Mexican government officials have complained that the availability of sophisticated guns from the United States have emboldened drug traffickers to fight over access routes into the U.S.

A State Department travel warning issued Feb. 20, 2009, reflected government concerns about the violence.

"Some recent Mexican army and police confrontations with drug cartels have resembled small-unit combat, with cartels employing automatic weapons and grenades," the warning said. "Large firefights have taken place in many towns and cities across Mexico, but most recently in northern Mexico, including Tijuana, Chihuahua City and Ciudad Juarez."

At the news conference today, Holder described his discussions with his Mexican counterpart about the recent spike in violence.

"I met yesterday with Attorney General Medina Mora of Mexico, and we discussed the unprecedented levels of violence his country is facing because of their enforcement efforts," he said.

Holder declined to offer any time frame for the reimplementation of the assault weapons ban, however.

"It's something, as I said, that the president talked about during the campaign," he said. "There are obviously a number of things that are -- that have been taking up a substantial amount of his time, and so, I'm not sure exactly what the sequencing will be." ....cont

Ya, that is so fitting "they" would use Mexico as a justification to re-ban.

That's exactly why we need assault weapons...to defend ourselves from those drug guys who are going to spread that violence on our side of the border! They're not going to respect our laws....DOH!
If they were law-abiding, none of this would be happening in the first place.

Yes, I agree with everything that you are saying. But the common mexican is being used in this game too. They don't much care for what the drug wars have created. Our empire is falling and as a novice student of history I have noticed that with a falling empire there is always an attachment of a barbarian horde that a greedy empire finds useful. It never works in the end. I imagine that most people here have Goth ancestry. They were in this position once. They (barbarians) always get land in these situations. I don't exactly know why. It is usually land they have been pushed off of....Just saying. I could come up with another dozen historical stories, but this hits more at home. The feds are not on the states sides. The only power that the lower states might have from a force of 40 million or so is nukes. They will be hard pressed to gain access to this with all the codes and technology. And even if they did the world would turn on them for using them. There is a time to be offensive and a time to be defensive and lose a rook or 2. A force of motivated, angry, finger pointing, divine right, millions against a complaisant bunch politically correct brainwashed sheep is no match.

If I were running it. I would prepare to consolidate forces. Pull back from territory and burn everything left. But that is not what is going to happen. And the states are to slow to pull together. Let us pray for the chuch as a system.

Just an opinion.

The Texas guard unit is small in comparison to the enemy. They are shot out and tired. God bless them. I know many of them. I know they will fight to the death, but many are already half dead. Texas has a lot of strong people but they have a lot of pride to. Also, their is not another state in the union that has such a cultural influence in common with mexico than Texas. Hate to bust everyones idea of Texas, but their it is. Infact, mexico would go easy on Texas as a bonus. Texas is half facade. Remember the Alamo? That is one of their main historical battles. A bunch of mexicans were in it.....Both sides...... Texas will be one of the first to fall. And much much more.

Don't...... Just my opinion. That is if Mexico breaks away from it's nanny and tries to actually become sovereign. And I think they may.

Hey, nobody hates my opinions more than me.
