WARNING!!!!! DON'T GIVE FOOD STORAGE INFO!
WARNING!!!
I posted this info on another thread, but it needs repeating:
In the late 60s or early 70s, food prices were doubling or tripling by the day. Sometimes the price of an item might go up $2 or $3 in an hour.
Our Stake President sent out a letter to each ward, (this was in Phoenix, Arizona), warning us to NOT GIVE OUT INFO ON HOW MUCH FOOD STORAGE WE HAD. Someone was calling people in the stake saying that they were representing the Stake President to find out how prepared the stake was. When the members of the stake would tell them, later they would go in and steal their food storage.
The letter went on to say that if the Stake President or Bishop wanted to take such a survey, IT WOULD FOLLOW NORMAL PRIESTHOOD CHANNELS.
I JUST NOW HAD SUCH A CALL. I now live in Provo, Utah. People know Mormon's have food storage, so we may become targets. Just a word to the wise.

No, tell them you got bullets. Then ask them if they have food.

We could start a thread about sharing food storage, that is a topic we have not covered.

Seriously? Somebody called you to find out how much you have? I didn't think things were that desperate yet. They certainly aren't in my area. Thieves here are still looking for things to sell and pawn. Not to eat.believer wrote:WARNING!!!

Yes, it is true. This one didn't say he was representing the Stake President, but was asking questions. Since I had this warning years ago, I didn't even think about giving any answers about what I have now. We need to be careful who we tell that we have it. The thieves may not be the ones you told, but they might tell someone, who tells someone else, and so on. I don't think we have to be paranoid about it, but some caution wouldn't hurt, and don't give information over the telephone unless it's someone you know and trust-----Just like we shouldn't give credit card info, or personal information over the phone to identity thieves.

Re: WARNING!!!!! DON'T GIVE FOOD STORAGE INFO!
I told my husband this and he said (almost) the same thing. He wasn't expecting to hear of this kind of thing for a few more months.lamanite wrote: Seriously? Somebody called you to find out how much you have? I didn't think things were that desperate yet.
He then said we were buying a gun. (Hmmmm...)
Thanks for the info. I'm going to tell my family and friends about this.
